Information about the vote in my county

Pinellas County, Florida

In 2000 Gore received 200,629 votes. Bush received 184,823 votes.

In 2004, Kerry received 225,367 and Bush got 225,627 votes.

In 2000 there were 210,876(D) and 240,230(R)

In 2004 there were 231,652(R) and 223,544 (D)

So even though there were was a net increase of 21,246 Democrats since 2000, Bush did better in my county by 16,066 votes.

I know about independents, but these numbers seem a little odd to me. One would assume Kerry would do better, since there was a net increase of Democrats. It's not like people registered as Democrats to vote for Bush.

wouldn't you. And funny how exits polls are never wrong, except the 2 elections that GWB & Co, were running in. Those numbers do seem quite odd.
