Excellent Article on BBV Suspicions by David Corn
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/11/opinion/main655162.shtml

Before the vote counting was done, the e-mails started arriving. The election's been stolen! Fraud! John Kerry won! In the following days, these charges flew over the Internet. The basic claim was that the early exit polls -- which showed Kerry ahead of George W. Bush -- were right; the vote tallies were rigged. Could this be? Or have ballot booths with electronic voting machines become the new Grassy Knoll for conspiracy theorists?

This one seems fairer than most. Most of the columns I've read dismiss the BBV suspicions a bit too quickly and glibly for my taste. This article is a bit more balanced. I especially liked the last line.

The system ought to be so solid that no one would have cause even to wonder whether an election has been stolen.

2. Corn is usually very slow to come around. He often shills for corporate
media. Why would you think that an article immediately attaching labels of conspiracy theory is fair?

4. He's been much fairer here than almost any other non-activist writer.
I'm heartened to see it. It's a dose of reality for the BBVers, as well as those who poo-poo any suggestion of voter fraud.

When Walmart cashes it's registers out at the end of the day, they do not accept that what's on the tape is what was sold that day. They count the money, checks and credit cards to balance it out and verify that the sales totals are correct. If they are not then they must dig back to figure out where the errors are or if money is missing. We need to be doing the same thing with our elections. Numbered paper ballots friends. This is what we need to do. Then there are no doubts.

he doesn't even mention the recent UP report that addresses ALL the RW talking points he heaped in his article.

typical of the lazy, rw shills working today.

however, they are no longer able to ignore the real problem with the MACHINES -> no audit trail/paper ballot - and that is certainly a good thing.

remember... 1st they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight u, then you win - Gandhi
