Wes Clark doesn't rule out 08' run
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 02:44 AM by Clarkie1
On Hardball today, Chris Matthews informed Clark he was voted the best of all candidates on the Hardball college tour and "did great at Harvard."

When asked if he would run again Clark smiled and said, "it's a long way off."

When Matthews asked if he had a message for the troops, Clark replied:

"Hang tough. Do the right thing, don't leave anybody behind on the battlefield and just have faith. Be brave and have faith. Say your prayers."

10. Here's why
The Adam and Steve story Wes is talking about happened in Columbia on MLK day and Wes was quite controversial but brave. Before the big march a black female preacher made a stink about gay marriage and Wes stood up to her and said he doesn't believe homosexuals CHOOSE to be gay.

Also, he was CUT OFF IN THE INTERVIEW BEFORE HE HAD A CHANCE TO FINISH MAKE HIS POINT!

11. he was showing out people think and that he DISAGREES
but that it's part of the culture among many. and unless you didn't hear, there were a bunch of anti gay amendments on the ballots in various states last week which passed. so it's something that is an issue right now.

3. Do you really need to start this garbage in another thread?
The Clark supporters already won that argument once.

4. I don't think Clark will pull anyone to the right....he did not hesitate

to say that Bush supports Civil Unions. Clark simply pointed out that it is a polarizing issue like abortion. Clark also point out that life is more complicated than, oh I'm for or against something. The example he stated concerning gay marriage was passed to him by an African American Woman following a church service. Also Clark stated that a woman in Arkansas told him that if a girl goes to bed with a man she has already made her decision as to child birth. He followed up with life is full of complications, it's just not that simple.

Stop thinking that Democrats are against all issues concerning gay marriage, this is the big tent party...and that's why I'm in it. Social issues are just being used by the right to divide and conquer, quite effectively I might add.

14. he actually didn't say that
if you LISTENED, or actually read the transcript, you would know that he was repeating what he heard from some crazy fundy preacher, not saying it himself

9. Let's get this story straight....
The Adam and Steve story Wes is talking about happened in Columbia on MLK day and Wes was quite controversial but brave. Before the big march a black female preacher made a stink about gay marriage and Wes stood up to her and said he doesn't believe homosexuals CHOOSE to be gay.

12. I was a Wes supporter from the get go...
I am not particularly a big military person, but Wes Clark has really impressed me. I think he is a decent man with a buttload of credentials.
I hope that in the next four years, he will be involved politically and/or in some leadership capacity. He would make an excellent president - too bad people did not take the time to get to know him.

13. Me too....
...... I think Clark has a lot going for him.

I think he can win with "middle America". He has very progressive views, but he is able to articulate them as points of "fairness", and he does it very, very well.

On the talk show circuit, Clark was head and shoulders better than anyone I saw at defending his beliefs, framing the issues and not letting the whores twist him around. He chewed Russert up and spit him out, and did it with a friendly smile on his face.

His military credentials, while considered controversial by some, are exemplary also. The man is clearly a thinker, but he is also a doer and by 2008 I'm hoping people have had their fill of the "he'd be good to have a beer with" little man we have now.
