One of the things that is going to trip up the Republicans in the next
few years is their support for Free Trade which simply means export of U.S.jobs to India and China.Along with the tax cuts for the wealthy which has ballooned the deficits, this Free Trade (oops Jobs Export Policy) it is decimating our Middle Class. This Middle Class is not merely the economic engine that fuels growth in our own country, it also happens to be the prime mover for many of the World's economies, including India and China. If current Bush policies continue, I can see that as the purchasing power of our Middle Class is destroyed, even the countries that are benefiting are likely to see their economies come crashing.

As our corporate masters see their profits erode from the policies that are currently benefiting them, they will bail out of the BUsh policies faster than you can say Ho Jintao.

1. Unemployed 53 Months - I Have Lived Like Less Than A College
Student for the last four years.

I know others similarly afflicted that have had to move back in with their parents just to survive the jobless recovery.

Consumer society, what's that?

3. People like us who used to believe that our political system exists
to serve our needs are dismayed to find that we have very little control or say in anything. Our corporations move to a different drummer, the PROFIT MOTIVE.It mows down everything in its path. One of the best examples of this corporate arrogance was the statement by Carly Fiorina, CEO of H-P.She says that Americans have no inherent right to a job any more than a Chinese or an Indian.

Miss Fiorina, next time you want to sell us a HP product, take that to China or India.

2. I'm no economist but it makes sense to me that...
If our dollar continues to sink the middle class won't even be able to afford cheaply made imports.

4. Yes - As Our Dollar Sinks And The Foreign Currencies Rise
The price of those cheap Wal-Mart imports will have to go up.

Combine that effect with the stagnant or falling wages of most Americans and you have falling consumer sales.

There could be a silver lining as this might retard the Wal-Mart onslaught a little.
