W
Before and/or after the election.

When I see a bumper sticker with the standard Bush/Cheney on it, I don't like it, I think the driver is a moron, etc.

But -- when I see one with that big W on it, I have a strong visceral reaction.

Why does that seem so much worse?

Is is because it seems fascistic?
Is it because they took an insult and used it as a positive and idiots went along with it?
Is is because of statement like "W is for Women"

1. I've noticed a lot more of them SINCE the election
and yes I was looking.

I think the little cowards finally feel like it is okay to come out and to act like they were sure from the beginning. My wife has noticed that "they" are much more aggressive on the road ways too.

3. The new swastika
Face it. The party of W is here. Arm bands will be issued shortly. The numbing of the minds is taking hold - you are either for them or against them. Display your symbol or they will question your loyalty.

5. NO "W"
I've seen the "W" in a circle with the line thru it -- I would like to buy one of those for my backpack.

6. typing at same time
Sorry SEpatriot. I think I was typing at the same time you were. I didn't mean to to take away from you're use of "Swastika" by saying it's only similar to one.

10. No prob
It seems extreme, but I just bristle everytime I see one. Especially the little black and white ones.

4. It's not AS bad, but similar
to seeing a swastika. It, the W, stands for such bad stuff, but Bush supporters (fans)wear it and display it like a prize, like a shield, like a weird conservative right evangelical crucifix!!!! Scary!

I just wonder. I did with mine when he conceded.

8. I didn't see many
of the W's before the election (I live in Petersberg VA, and I go to school in Richmond) But boy, have I really seen a lot of them after the election. It's kind of like saying "yes we won, we can put them on now.".... I can't stand them. I still have my Kerry/Edwards sticker on, and anyone else still getting looks for that.. especially in Red States?

12. I removed mine, too.
It was too heartbreaking seeing the 2 Kerry bumperstickers on my car after the disappointment of November 2nd/3rd.

16. Agree
I dont believe its fascistic because they believe in their man and we believed in ours. Its just the loss makes it THAT much more painful when seeing the W stickers now...

I noticed that too, here in NC. Kerry stickers far outnumbered the "Ws" in my neck of the woods, but now the Ws are popping up like shrooms on a cow patty. I've even noticed two in my parking lot that were not present before the election -- one on a neighbor's car who told me on election day that he wasn't going to vote.

9. Yeah, it's because it seems fascistic.
Very fascistic.

Shortly before the election, I saw a billboard with the reverse-type W next to a similarly-sized (and square) photo of the man himself. The photo showed him looking genial and benign.

I'd almost prefer that his handlers be more honest and have him adopt more of an Il Duce type of pose. As it was, the sunny-disposition seemed perfectly at odds with the fascistic-looking W.

I'm sure we'll continue to see these Ws crammed down our collective throats for years. Brace yourselves. Or get busy with parody stickers that ridicule the original appropriately.

17. It's cultish
and creepily presumptuous, as if we all MUST know what that single letter means.

I aggravate my brothers by calling it "the mark of the beast".

19. W
Oh, hey, my first post. The W thing, along with just about anything else that is * makes me feel more than uncomfortable. Almost apprehensive. It's like their symbol. If you want to get somewhat Orwellian, take shrubbie's face and superimpose the W over it for a really scary effect.

23. It's worse because we recognize it as the symbol of a cult
They've simplistically reduced their idol to a letter. Everything they stand for is represented in that letter, just as christ is often represented by a cross, as wicca is represented by a pentacle and satanism by a pentagram. (These are generalizations.)

I want a bumper sticker which says: BeWare the Cult of W
