Bush Vows Second-Term Push for Palestinian State

President Bush (news - web sites) vowed on Friday to use the next four years to help establish a Palestinian state, and he and British Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) said they would help craft a post-Arafat strategy for making it happen.

Aren't the Doomsday Evangelicals against this? Is he actually going against his base?

1. He won't actually do anything about it
He's just saying that to give Tony something to take home with him.

"Fool me once", you know...

4. Yes, all the evangelicals know Bush lies, and they are good with it.
They know if Bush told the truth, he wouldn't be president for another day and then what would happen to God's agenda?

2. He made nice words before.
And this speech was reasonable enough. Let's wait what comes from this. Probably the exact opposite of what he said unless he wants to give Tony boy a little shove for the upcoming British elections.

3. Well, as we've come to discover in the previous 4 years...
...when Bush praises a program or says he's going to do something, he always ends up undercutting the program or doing the exact opposite.

Palestine is doomed.

5. Just a reach around
Something to keep Tony happy, ya know.

No way he'll actually make any effort toward making it happen. He'll probably appoint a Middle East Envoy, if he hasn't already (haven't caught up with all my news yet today) and then cut the guy off at the knees if he actually tries to affect some change.

Yeah, he's a predictable little fuck, thats for sure.
