Should I contact the ACLU?
Yesterday, before going into work, I had a severe panic attack...I just made it into work and tried to hide the fact that physically,I was just distraught. Today, I come in, and was told that I was not "cheerful" enough to work with the company. I was fired. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder...should I contact the ACLU? My lack of "cheer" was directly related to my anxiety attack. What should I do?

1. No, get a lawyer
Sue them under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). If you can document your panic disorder and that you are taking steps to treat it, you might have a case.

2. Don't know about the ACLU
But you could probably find an employment attorney to take the case on contingency.

3. Contact an attorney in your state
who specializes in employment/disability cases. There may be a violation of the ADA or state or local labor/diability laws.

4. Start with an employment or workers' comp atty. This will be elevated
past the workers comp level. But that is a good starting place.

6. Contact your state labor board.
They have lawyers to help you if you can't afford one.

7. The ACLU is insanely busy
I've done work with them, and just in the city where I live, they have 3 attorneys and thousands of requests per year.

As was already stated, seek out an employment law attorney, but if you have been diagnosed and aren't medicated, it might be bad for you.

it's not that they wouldn't want to help, but they do tend to get a lot of requests --
