GROUP SUGGESTION: The Christian Left? or a Religion/Atheism/Agnositc
forum where we could have several topics?

I do think we need to strengthen the "Christian Progressive" movement if for no other reason than to counter the muck of the Christo-facists.

Lily suggested this group in a thread just before the procedures changed and we had 6 takers. Thanks Lily for the original suggestion.

If anyone else is interested please check in. We can work out the details later.

Here is a quick note from The Center For Progressive Christianity.

GENERAL NEWS
In the wake of recent political events, your involvement with TCPC
means more to us than ever as we continue to demonstrate that issues of faith, meaning and community are not *owned* by conservatives. There *is* a progressive moral and religious voice. The more effectively we work together, the better this voice can and will be heard!

If you have not already affiliated with TCPC, or have not re-affiliated yet, please consider supporting us for as little as $35 per year. Your donations allow us to maintain the website, develop curriculums, books and other materials, plan or host events, send out press releases and newsletters, and help progressive religious people and organizations find and support each other.

There are many ways to be religious. Let's get the word out. To
affiliate or re-affiliate with TCPC for one year, start here:

Enjoy this issue of TCPC E-News and, as always, feel free to talk to us at office@tcpc.org! Thanks again for being a part of the TCPC online network.

3. Go to: www.sojo.net
It's sojourners magazine on line. It's REAL Christians. You remember, like the ones in the real Bible. and they're getting active!

God may not be a Republican, or a Democrat, but Jesus was way left of either party!

4. As a religious person, but not a Christian
I prefer Progressive Religion/Spirituality

We're dems. We should be as inclusive as we can be.

6. I like that idea.
I believe that democratic policies are much more Christian than republican policies, and "morals" are not defined by two hot-button issues.

8. YES
I am not at all religious, I was raised Jewish but now consider myself more of a Confirmed Agnostic or Secular Humanist. Sadly, the Religious Right has made me very wary of religion (and religious people).

The right Christians (as Al Sharpton said) must fight back to counter the Christian Right. THEY need to define the moral debate in this country, not Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, etc. We must write letters to papers, etc to get this message to the puglic. We must start now so when Election Time comes, we have already shaped the debate.

I believe this will accomplish two things. One, it will help Democrats win. Two, it may just draw people like me closer to God.

9. The Pluralistic Spiritual Left
There is room for atheists, non-theists, and agnostics because believers who fall under this heading believe there is no one "right" way.

Would Jesus love a liberal? You bet!
