The "mourning period" is over.....
For all those that needed time to regroup and to assimilate what has happened, and were deeply depressed by the selection of George W Bush for President, it is now time to get back into the game.

Even if after all the recounts, Bush is declared the winner, the election was still stolen. Why? Because it was gotten with lies and deception and underhanded propaganda, which is just as bad as outright theft.

Either way, it was stolen. That is not the American way or the way that we elect people in our democracy. We expect a certain degree of honesty and openness. We expect the media to expose fraud and lies. We don't expect our Presidents to be crooks and liars. We tend trust that they are ethical and mostly honest. Our nation was lied to, starting with the war in Iraq, and on every other issue that has been discussed. Whether it was stolen at the ballot box or stolen with lies does not matter. It was stolen.

1. We also expect the equal protection of the law for black citizens.
Not for white citizens in Ohio to be able to vote in a half-hour while black citizens in Ohio have to wait several hours to vote.

2. Mourning in America
I know what you mean. We have to move on. But I've still been in a funk about the election. Last night, for example, I just started thinking about how I can't believe Bush will be inaugurated for a second term. And I just got depressed all over again. :(

3. But we have work to do....
Shake it off. Let's get to work. First thing we do is make sure the votes are counted...then we go from there.

4. If the DNC can't fight -- we can -- bush is a lying thief
We need to keep writing our democratic representative -- the few that remain -- to avoid going down on their knees in front of bush. This will be hard for them to do.

I have a kick ass Congressional rep -- but there aren't many in his class.

My two female dem senators (WA state) -- are already talking about "bi-partisan" working with the other side of the isle. Neither of these females is likely to show any back-bone any time soon.

The dems still haven't gotten the message that the GOPigs aren't interested in "working with" dems.

5. You described it well
I slowly getting over my mourning and am ready to re-connect. I may need a while longer but I'm taking steps towards activism. This elecion...selection is just wrong. But we have to start looking forward.

6. I fear for the future
I believe you all know what is coming. The vote-fraud investigation will vindicate us and give substance to our suspicions, the right-wing will retaliate with overwhelming force through their many media mouthpieces; the debate shifts and liberals are suddenly to blame for their lack of faith in the Democratic process.

This administration has been dancing on the edge of a great divide for some years now, and I have a feeling it's only going to get wider until the people step in and stop our government from its divisive practices.

That means stopping the right-wing media apparatus dead in its tracks.

That means not allowing matters of integrity turn into matters of politics, no matter how much Republicans want to frame the debate that way.

That means protests may not be enough.
