be nice to dick cheney
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 02:03 PM by private_ryan
whatever you think of him, I don't think it's ok to wish him death or other physical harm. Many freepers wished that on Clinton justifying by what he did "bad", and if we do the same it's just as bad.

fire away

12. the idea of anyone feeling pain is tough
that being said cheney seems to care very little about people. We don't know the extent of his sleaziness but there is enough to paint a picture of a pretty mean soul. Good riddance dick

* His 1st War in Iraq: Saddam Hussein is our enemy!
* His Halliburton years: Saddam Hussein is our friend!

18. Its hard work
Ya know, I've always lived my life trying to never wish ill will on anyone.
I jumped on people here who were dancing on Reagans grave just for that reason.
In fact, just this morning I was telling my son that I was finding it very hard to hold onto my Christian soul and not wish for something to happen to the Chimp. So far I've been winning the battle with myself, but its hard work.

So, I agree. Threads wishing harm to others make me feel a little queasy. I just think it dehumanizes the person doing it.

19. Actually some of the freepers....
Were surprisingly supportive of Clinton, saying that while they hate his guts, they wanted him to recover because wishing people ill is just wrong.

Same for me and Dick. As much as I hate, despise, loathe, and detest the man, I wish him no ill will. Politically, yes, but not in terms of his own physical health.

I hope that some on this board will remember the words spoken about justice and fairness.

Don't prove what the homophobes and freedom-haters think about us.

Wish the veep well.

And then hope that he gets the same cell as * after impeachment.

There's a line here. I hope most of us stay on the human side of it.

He's survived 4 heart attacks. Regardless of what I feel about him, he does have a stressfull job. He IS the president.

It's probably something minor and he'll snap out of it.

Funny how this happens when there are probes into his pals at Halliburton going on.

Stress? Guilt? Fear?

Who knows. I just hope he survives this. If Bush has to be in office for another ...... god help us .... four years, I don't want them to be able to prop up the '08 nominee in VP's office.

36. you're right - but that's what mercy is all about
The right rethugs don't give a flying fig about the homeless or the uninsured. But imo, the essence of humanity is showing care and mercy especially to those who probaby don't deserve it.

It's easy to be kind to good people. It takes something to show compassion to the enemy.

Just my two cents.

Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 02:53 PM by Trajan
OR Cheney will dick you nicely ....

Guess what ? ... I have never 'hated' Bush or Cheney, even as I dislike them and their policies ...

But 'being nice' to them is a bit much ....

I can still call Dick Cheney one of the WORST lying, cheating, freedom-hating, scumbag corporate greedmeisters ever known in the history of mankind, without wishing he would die ...

In fact: I would like to see that asshole LIVE, and suffer a better fate; like being forced to serve hot soup and coffee in the downtown mission, all day, every day, for the rest of his greedy life ...

That Bastard voted against feeding poor hungry children every damned chance he had .... He has taken the national treasure of the citizens of the United States of America, and lined the pockets of his friends with OUR collective resources ...

I dont want him to die: I want him to shit in his bed, and not be able to get up ....

He should live and stink; like his ideology ....

39. I promise not to gloat when bad things happen to Cheney
But then, many of us are praying fervently that some benevolent form of the divine will payback the evil VP and all around he and *.

Personally, I have prayed that every Repuke who voted for * will feel the same pain they are inflicting on others. It's not that I wish harm to anyone; only that sometimes it takes pain to teach people empathy for others, and we live in a nation teeming with Repukes who have absolutely no concept of altruism. A little hurt can go a long way to remedy that.

Perhaps God is answering prayers. I believe it.

In a related tale, after the election my daughter was dreading her return to college due to one nasty Repuke in particular. My daughter is a calm, decent gal who doesn't normally wish harm on anyone. (Well, almost. At times her brothers would be the exception to that diplomatic demeanor.)

She has really struggled with this gal and her Repuke friends. This gal tore down all the posters my kids put up and complained to my kids after I dared speak to one of her friends about the draft. A real piece of work.

Last week as I pulled on campus a Life Flight helicopter was climbing on its way to a hospital. Turns out this girl had her arm hanging out her window, cruising away from school on a back road, when a tire hit some gravel and she rolled the car a half dozen times.

Some nursing students saved her life ( she would have bled out) and perhaps her arm. She won't be back til next semester.

WE didn't find out it was this girl til the next day. None of us cheered or gloated. But we did all agree her words of contempt and cruelty for the maimed Iraqis may have come back to haunt her.

I'm not happy she was hurt. I'm just saying don't go overboard the other way. It may be that "someone" hears our pleas and is meting out justice at last.

42. I Want Him To live!

Wish death on Dick Cheney? Heavens to Murgatroyd, NO!

Should his health take a dramatic turn for the worst, I want him to live!

Should he suffer a catastrophic stroke which leaves him completely paralysed and unable to move or speak... I want him to live.

Should his heart fail and he be placed on machines and drugs and round the clock watch... I want him to live.

Should his bowels and bladder finally give helpless vent to the foulness within his frame, and he be compelled to rest in his own putrescence and ordure... I want him to live!

Should his kidneys fail, his liver falter, his entire body saturated, marinating in the intincted toxins of end-stage physical shutdown... I want him to live.

Should his family visit and visit and visit, and he slowly lose touch with them, his mind drifting away into the haze of senmility... I want him to live.

When at last, he is a bedsore covered, fleshless wrack, tethered to this world only by tubing and wires... I want him to live.

And live

And live, his mind trapped inside an ever more static prison of cooling flesh, one tiny bright spark amid the ruin... I want him to live.

No merciful haze as blessed Ronald Reagan, no, Amid the receding shorelines of sanity on a foggy sea of wakefulness, may his mind drift like a single lighted frigate, its crew dead, its captain impotent, maddened ... alone... countryless... I want him to live!

While the country awaits word, much like Yassar Arafat, I want his raddled and undead hulk to anchor his terrified soul. I want him, suspended by the slimmest of Ariadne's threads over the hideous abyss!
There, hovering betwixt this world and the next, I want him to contemplate all he has done, all who have felt his clammy benison... I want his eyes, widened in horror at his fate... As the nation tires of the never-changing news... and turns elsewhere for its adrenaline fix... I want him to live.

I want the popular mind to shift, to scamper after the next glistering fad, gasping at Michael Jackson, fawning over reality shows, while the ultimate reality show goes on, season after agonised season, within the cranium of Richard Cheney, until at last, generations after the stain of his suzerainty has faded into an unremarked shadow on a once beloved carpet, now relegated to the storage shed... I want him to finally meet his Maker... Having been dangled for decades over the yawning chasms of his new home, may he know each sulfur rimed boulder, each iron accoutered wall, each adamantine ring and shackle, chain and kerb to its very heart!

And there, amid the fires and the screams, amid the teeming morass of souls caparisoned solely in their own blood and suffering, surrounded by the shrieks of laughter from his Hellish tormentors....

I want him to live.

66. I'm wondering how many here who think Cheney deserves sympathy
were laughing at Franken's skit about Arafat's death.

62. I couldn't agree more.
The fact is, Nobody here likes the man. However, when I read some of the things that were being posted today, I couldn't believe it. It is horrible Karma, and totally inappropriate. Wishing death on someone isn't a very progressive mindset to have. There, I've said my peace, flame away.

67. Am I evil if I hope whatever is wrong with him ends his career?
What happened to him, exactly? Something about shortness of breath. Was his black soul backing up on him?

68. My dreams are my own private business. Period.

Big Brother, either real or imaginary, not allowed. And, for the record, I tend to keep my dreams to myself, only to be shared with my partner and close family and friends.

And dream I do, dreams of all sorts, IN FULL WIDE-SCREEN SIN-O-RAMA TECHNICOLOUR

I hope this offers my "extreme CLARITY" on this issue.

edit: spelling.

71. He should retire
for his health (and ours) I'd hate to see Cheney be Prez for real when Bush is impeached/forced to resign.

72. Not gonna wish death on anybody...no way!
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 07:56 PM by Ladyhawk
If he dies, though, I won't exactly mourn, either. I think that's the way a lot of people feel.

74. I don't want Cheney to die, I hope he lives at least 20 more years
in the worst most agonizing pain possible for a human being.
