Leftists Shouldn't Complain
...because at THIS rate, the neo-cons will be GREAT entertainment!

>>>A Virginia pro-family advocate says the people who helped re-elect President Bush don't support homosexual relationships -- the administration apparently does. Joe Glover, president of the Family Policy Network, has worked tirelessly for family values, including the fight against legalized homosexual "marriage." He says it was conservative Christians who put the president back in office and who held to the belief that the president shared their views. But Glover says the day after the election, that all seemed to go out the window. "The day after George Bush was elected president again, because of this morals revolution taking place in our country, he allows his vice president to not only put his lesbian daughter on the platform, but to bring her lesbian 'partner' up on the stage with him," Glover says. "It almost seems to be a slap in the face from the get-go against the very conservatives that re-elected the president at a time when he ought to paying them some homage and respect." Glover says the Cheney daughter's open flaunting of her homosexuality is the antithesis of what the administration claims to stand for -- and that the post-election display sends a mixed message to Bush supporters. <<<

This was always my favorite...

2. Entertainment-
How far will the neocons be willing to go to suit the religious right? Ban gay marriage and civil unions? Ban abortions, including those for cases of rape and incest? Teaching only creationism in school?

It will be fun to see the fight that I know will ensue. Wonder who the preachers will tell their flocks to vote for next?

3. The message is only mixed because they don't understand neocons.
The neocon electoral strategy is this, and nothing more than this:

"You're of great value to us until we get into office, and we'll tell you anything to get to vote for us, but once it's all over -- screw you. We don't serve you, you serve us."

If these people really thought Bush was going to serve them, instead of Halliburton and Carlyle, they're in even deeper denial than their apocalyptic fantasies would lead a pragmatist to suspect. Any evangelical Christian who let him/herself believe God meant more to Bush than mammon needs help tying his/her shoes. Fools.

4. I, for one, believe it will be very entertaining. I guess that's one
consolation. It helps, anyway. I also believe it will start coming from "old-school" conservatives and from those in other groups who didn't really understand what they were voting for. Thinking about it actually makes me fell kind of giddy at times.

5. Isn't it shocking?
And to think that the CHAIRMAN of the RNC is a CLOSET HOMOSEXUAL as well! Remember GEORGE, these people MADE YOU and they can BREAK YOU! What's fundamentalist to do? :wow:

7. Ist step is adopting a Nihilistic philosophy.
Or else it isn't funny. Just watching your country in death throes; that's all.

I've tried embracing it, and nihilism, and have been alternating between profound grief and detached bemusement. Neither is healthy.
