i haven't seen it mentioned here yet, sorry if it's a dupe, but i was listening to the BBC yesterday, their embedded reporter explained what the us troops use to determine who in Fallujah is civilian and who is an insurgent: they test for traces of explosives on their hands! geez louise! they check to see if they have fired a firearm recently, THAT'S their criteria. so, if the man of the house has to take up arms to defend his family/home from the "real" insurgents, good luck because that AK-47 that we allow every home to have is now what will label them as an insurgent, regardless who it was you were actually shooting at. apparantly our military must think they are the only ones in danger. i guess they haven't heard about the kidnappings etc?
oh, and she went on right after that, saying, to no great surprise, they haven't seen many civilians, only insurgents. go figure.
