I'm watching 'JFK' again on TNT
I don't think it's a coincidence that Ted Turner is showing it now. Thanks Ted.

The film is blowing me away now like never before. I really hope lots of Americans are watching the movie again, it's incredibly apt in Bushworld. We are all Jim Garrison.

1. No offense, but Garrison's theories always sounded pretty whacked out
to me. I personally think if JFK was killed by anyone other than Oswald, the mob did it. Makes perfect sense. The Kennedys got mob help during the election, then Bobby went after them. The mob is very good at killing people. Giancana personally bragged about killing Jack.

3. You seem to be selective in your whacko theories.
You believe, for instance, the whacko who claims to know what Giancana said. And if it was a straight mob hit, how was Oswald involved?

How many people, do you suppose, had an interest in smearing Garrison? Putting the whole thing off on Giancana would be the smart thing for them to do, dontcha think? It's not like Giancana could defend himself.

5. Not claiming to be an expert. Just giving my personal opinion
I've heard Garrison's theories and they struck me as bizarre, frankly. But the mob had a clear motive, and the mob is good at killing people. Just one person's opinion.

2. a great movie, been a while since I've seen it
Is the part about the assassination being written about in the foreign press, before the event, true?

6. So far as I know.
There is also a trade paperback of the JFK script which is fully footnoted.

4. 'JFK' is trash
The movie is riddled with literally hundreds of factual errors, exaggerations and outright lies. If you want to know what really happened to President Kennedy I suggest you read Case Closed by Gerald Posner.

7. It's a movie, not a documentary. Further, after what I've learned
here at DU over the past 2 or so years, I consider it absolutely righ on in terms of the general overview. It matters not to me if a few -- or even a lot of -- details are wrong, the premise is absolutely correct.

And were it not past my bedtime I'd lay a few dozen links on ya. Not that I'd expect you'd change your tune -- there are people who "get it" and there are people who don't, and some of the latter group have a hidden agenda for not getting it.

But I will say this: understanding what really happened and who was involved with the JFK assassination is one key (maybe not the only key, but an important one) to understanding fully where we are now and why and, once again, who's involved.

8. Posner is a piece of work
To put it politely. He either works for the CIA or the Mossad. In my opinion, of course.
