Straw questioned on Guinea 'plot'
BBC News

Ministers are facing questions about how they knew about an alleged coup plot in Africa weeks before mercenaries were arrested for planning it.

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw has revealed he knew in late January about the alleged plot in Equatorial Guinea.

But a group of mercenaries, led by former SAS officer Simon Mann, was not arrested until 7 March.

Tory shadow foreign secretary Michael Ancram is demanding details of what Mr Straw knew and what he did about it.
