The new justification for invading Iraq?
A church-head tried to torture me with this. According to him, this is the "True reason" we invaded Iraq. It is pasted below:

************************

1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of
civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in
Iraq.

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes
of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq
(Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in
the fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing
on the wall" in Iraq.

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews
captive into Iraq.

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq.

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is
called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the
nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you
know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that
is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names
used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and
Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the
two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and
Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with
deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very
significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and
prophecy associated it than Iraq.

And also... This is something to think about! Since
America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam
should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic
Bible)

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia
would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle
would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo,
while some of the people trembled in despair still
more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the
lands of Allah; and there was peace.

8. I quoted the Koran back to them, showing them that 9-11
had nothing to do with what the letter claims. It has to do with alms.

Unfortunately, the local christians are too thick headed to consider any debunking evidence, but rest assured, I will torture his ass with this information at the next opportunity.

20. I reply all, then add all the e-mail addresses in the message.
I state the truth, then ask what is gained by spreading falsehoods.

9. maybe we should make sure the fundies read the Sura 9-11
It speaks of giving alms to the poor not alms to the rich.

13. That it was prophecy
And also evidence which would show that God wanted us to do it. It also implies the same thinking that Christianity used to justify slavery and genocide of the native Americans.

The underlying thought is that Christians are more deserving of this territory due to its heritage. Why let the heathens have it.

Of course, this bullshit is only used to pacify the religiously minded. After all, it is "prophecy" and our legitimate Christian heritage. We must be allowed to evangelize there!!

The real truth is that is bush wanted the oil. I think we all know that.

19. Well, the idea that is it from the Koran
Kind of makes us feel, uh, smarter than the heathens? American Christians really go for anything that affords self-righteous and implies religious insight.

It leaves the reader with the impression that Muslims are too stupid to understand their own scriptures and it takes a Christian Man to explain it to them.

The Christian argument for slavery was that the Blacks were too stupid to take care of themselves, and that God bestowed that responsibility upon the Whites. They were were nothing more domesticated beasts of the field that could not fend for themselves in the wild.

In my mind, the whole e-mail is bullshit and nothing more than expertly produced racist propaganda.

5. Strangely enough, this might be truer than not.
Those fundie preachers had to convince their congregations somehow that those ends justified the means. They delivered Iraq and its Oil to BushCo in exchange for the Garden of Eden and a biblical heritage. What was it that Sister Mary ***** used to say about the road to Hell being paved with good intentions?

Also, remember the ready supply of military aged children to be delivered to BushCo to fight in Iraq for Murika and for Jesus.

6. That's an excuse for killing everybody who lives there?
If there is a God and there is a hell a lot of people who supported this war should be very concerned for their souls.

11. Makes perfect sense to me.
Iraq is mentioned in the Bible; therefore we must kill all its inhabitants. (Idiots, Ch 1 Vs. 8)

16. So we should invade Iraq...
Because it's a holy site to Judaism, and therefore to Christianity, and therefore to Islam. Yes. That makes sense. Because when it comes to holy sites claimed by all three religions—for the very same event—rather than recognize how our faiths are all of the same cloth, we must kill each other so the proper secular flags fly above it.

18. Boy, you couldn't make that Koran 9:11 stuff up....
Wait.... yes you can.....

Chapter 9 verse 11 actually says "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and we make the communications clear for a people who know."

22. Sounds more like a reason not to invade....
Rather than helping to decimate a country so important to 3 major religions.
