A. Gonzalez: the Hispanic C. Thomas, with a big, fat chain of evidence.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Gonzalez is Clarence Thomas with brains. The brains make
it tougher to nail him; but his public record makes it
much easier. He has a rap sheet long enough to put him
out of government for the rest of his career. This won't
be an Anita Hill, "he said, she said" brawl.

This is the first appointment of a "moral" administration?
A man who has denied the Geneva Conventions? A man who
signed off on all the executions Bush reveled in in Texas?
This is the message Bush has to send to America and the
world about the Rule of Law? We don't punish lawbreakers,
we promote them? Welcome to the American version of the
reign of Henry VIII. Inconvenient laws, just have someone
fix that for his highness.

The Democrats have to come out fighting this thug. The
pukes will say we are anti-Hispanic, just like they said the
opposition to Thomas was anti-black. But it won't wash
if the Dems grow a spine. Cluephone calling wanna-run-again
Kerry - put up or shut up.

The Dems need to pull out the facts and get them into the record.
This guy is unfit to be AG. He has a royalist concept of
the Presidency. He says the President can do anything
in time of war, and (how convenient) Cheney says we are
at war for the forseeable future. While they are at it,
the Dems can ask him about Abu Ghraib and Valerie Plame
before they fillibuster him to death.

If the Democrats rollover on this one, they will rollover
on every single appointment in the next term. Tell them:
fight or die.

1. Other than being a Bush croney
What actual crimes can he get dinged on? From Haliburton to no WMD's, there's very little 'crime' that actually gets called into justice in this administration. It would have to be something so "un-American", so "un-Replublican", so unrefutable that the entire senate and the country would be against.

2. We are beyond getting a fair vote in Senate - fillibuster is all we have
The Dems just fillibuster him for his evisceration of
the Geneva Convention.

Anyone who says the President can do anything in time
of war has no business being Attorney General.

This stuff is un-American to blue Americans; only red
state fascists have no problem with it. But since the
red state people control the government, they will never,
never discuss anything on merit. It is always a straight
party line vote.

Given that, the Dems can't win by negotiating. They have
to do what the GOP did in the minority. Fillibuster until
the other side backs down.

That's all we've got, and we better use it or lose it.

4. I've read that strategically, the filibuster on Gonzales is not smart
There are millions of worse people Bush could appoint. Democrats should a) all vote against him (obviously) and b) use the confirmation hearings to bring up every last dirty piece of dirt on this scumbag. Gonzales (or someone equally bad) will be made AG - but we can make them regret putting him there, if we play our cards right.

5. Its way past time for "the lesser of two evils"
Yes, they could appoint somebody worse. But so what.
We'd just continue to look spineless not opposing him.
He is a royalist creep, and scary in his willingness
to manufacture legal nonsense on command.

Give me an example of worse, in the dimensions of:

....the brainpower to be halfway credible
....the pure chutzpah to call tyranny liberty
....already an insider on Bush's team, with dirty hands
.........and nothing more to lose

About the only person that fits that bill is John
Poindexter.

I say fight. We have to fight sooner or later. It might
as well be sooner. We need a victory.
