7. Jan 05 Oil drop on news of 06 prod
Makes perfect sense (sarc)

The price of January Delivery, Light Sweet crude from the Gulf drops because;

Conoco gets a go ahead to start drilling.
Won't be in production till 2006.
IIRC The area has produced a sourer crude than gulf oil.

I suppose sales of H2's went up on this news as well.

Go figure?

8. take your worst case scenario for the next 4 years
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 04:45 PM by democracy eh
and multiply it by 5

then take 50% or that and cram it into the next 6 months

it is called shock therapy, we, America and the world will be so beaten up and confused from the previous event, we won't be able to handle the next, and the next and the next.. oil drilling, social security, CIA, WMD attack, tax cuts, overturning roe v. wade, constitutional amendment to allow foreign born republican candidates for presidents, constitutional amendment abolishing 2 term limits for Bush family members, constitutional amendment banning the constitution.... what just happened? what's next? huh, shit!

9. Clearly, our dependence on oil of any kind is not taking a hike. Helloooo
When will somebody wake up and smell the exhaust fumes?

And I agree. Why the heck is the price dropping on this news? The damn oil is still in the ground... far beneat the tundra... beyond our reach... not in a barrel.... and won't be for 'lo these many years.

In addition, we all know how many lawsuits will be filed ...
...how many environmental reports will be filed... how many protests will be held... before any oil of any kind will find its way into any barrel or pipeline or refinery.

So what's with the money guys?

10. And what is truly sad is that with our consumption rate,
20 million bbl/day, the oil in this project will take care of our oil needs for all of three weeks, max.

However it will take generations for the habitat to recover. If ever.
