1. traded nice salary for stability.
Had a cushy job with a crap-ball utility. had "re-orgs" every six months. got out of that, but now i have a job where i took a 1/3 cut in salary. taxable income last year was 22,000. Tough to get buy for a family of 4.

2. Ouch. That's less than I made! But I live in San Francisco :(
$30K gets you NOTHING here.

3. Unemployed 53 Months - No Prospects In Sight
Look at what Dubya did to my current home (Dallas, TX) over the last four years.

This chart comes form the Dallas Federal Reserve.

4. About the same eventually
It got worse and then it got better. We're kind of back to where we started, my income is down slightly, LeftyDad's is up a bit. Our housing costs are lower, but other expenses are way up. It feels like we're fighting a lot harder to get what we have, but that could be parenthood as much as the economy. Sadly, LeftyDad's field is a booming industry in the current climate of fear, but none of the profits seem to be trickling down to the workers. My field is doing fairly well but my boss is pretty cool so I get regular raises and such. Thank the Lady for my job, we'd be up Crap Creek without it.

5. let's see. i graduated in may from a fantastic university
and STILL work at the 6.50 an hour job because there are no good jobs for recent grads except in biotech or engineering.

my dad's stable job got cut because his company tanked (they sold platforms, mounts, workstations for servers and large scale computer operations). He's been struggling ever since. Only had work for 5 months out of the past year. Filed for bankuptcy last year. Sometime soon, the bank will foreclose on our house.

No health insurance for over a year now...

Yes, i'd have to say much worse off.

income is less but the house was paid off. Some investments increased in value during that time as well.

7. our income is at an all time low
everything gets more expensive and we personally know no one doing well.10 years ago the people i worked for were in the 100,000$ a year range, the last few years i worked for people making 10 million a year and up..I have seen a complete erosion of the middle class in L.A. in the last 4 years I walked away from my own company 15 years ago when i was told i would be a very wealthy creep if i moved the business to Mexico.I would rather starve to death than use slave labor and polute the world.Something has to change and fast, with neocons running the world we can only hope they get some feelings for what is outside thier gated hide outs.
