I've been feverishly watching the developments since the election, and I did the same thing for awhile during 2000. I remember when I first saw Bush talking on TV way back before 2000, and I was terrified right away. So innocent-looking, but he also exuded something deeply dangerous...that was my fear, and it hasn't changed. I can barely concentrate on work these days. I can only look for more hints that there's still hope. I don't think the results will be overturned, but there are two things I don't see as impossible:
1) eventually, when lots of motivated people have finally completed their audits and investigations, something will come out that makes Bush look SO bad that he'll be impeached. 2) If not impeached, at least made to look really bad.
3) The more bleak scenario is that the whole election scandal will blow over like a passing stink and be forgotten...but perhaps Bush will become so overwhelmingly unpopular in the next 4 years that people will simply not be able to bear it anymore, and some sort of change will be inevitable. OR...the whole country will be impatiently waiting to kick him out, while kicking themselves at the same time for letting him in in the first place (it's everybody's fault that we let the Repugs get away with murder)...
I admit I was hoping the last scenario would already have taken place (I figured nobody would let him anywhere NEAR the oval office in 2004), but unfortunately people are too blind, slow, and uneducated to see past the smokescreen. But...the tides were already turning against Bush in the last while...I suspect his popularity will continue to plummet, and by 2008 we'll all regret these years.
I pin my hopes on these dreams...especially scenarios 1 and 2!
Just keep hoping man - and you know what? When it gets too much, STOP thinking about it so much, and get out a KEEP YOURSELF BUSY. That's the trick to keeping out of depression. Do things you enjoy, don't lounge around and don't spend TOO much time on the web. There's only so much you can control. Concentrate instead on things YOU can control, and do them well - and have fun.
That's what I try to do.
Cheers mate
