In fact I get really annoyed when people attack him. I was just commenting on how people have been talking about him on DU.

27. I didn't see any sarcasm in your post and I have seen too many people
talking like that lately. I should have known - the public enemy number one statement was more then a bit extreme. I'm just really getting sick of the Kerry bashing.

responding more to the people bitching because they seem to be overwhelming the other posts but only because the other side isn't responding as much.

4. See this
Via Josh Marshall:

"Regardless of the outcome of this election, once all the votes are counted -- and they will be counted -- we will continue to challenge this administration. This is not a time for Democrats to retreat and accommodate extremists on critical principles -- it is a time to stand firm.

I will fight for a national standard for federal elections that has both transparency and accountability in our voting system. It's unacceptable in the United States that people still don't have full confidence in the integrity of the voting process.

I ask you to join me in this cause."

That's a passage from a message Sen. John Kerry will be sending out to supporters later this afternoon.

8. If he supports electronic verification, you'll have your answer
If he does not call on the citizens who have been at the forefront for honest, accountable voting, that any citizen is capable of, you'll have an answer.

36. What kind of voting system and who he calls on to help set it up will tell
Voter verified paper ballots

Random, robust audits of all ballots

Citizens involved in election decisions- not the same old, vender dominated crowd, not just computer scientists, not election officials with years of The Election Center teaching behind them.

We need citizen activists, accountants.

That's the criteria Kerry must meet if he is to make a difference for the better in how America votes.

13. I have to ask...
If Kerry still has $45 million in his election fund, and $6 Billion or so in the bank -- why are the vote recounters having to scrabble and beg for $2,000 or $30,000 or $150,000 to get the vote checked?

14. because spending massive amounts of money to count votes
would undermine any results that are found. Think about it. If John Kerry spent $5 million on recount efforts do you honestly think that every republican in the country wouldnt be screaming that he bought the election if the results were overturned? If the vote count is wrong and Kerry is still hoping it gets overturned the only way it would have legitimacy would be if his campaign had nothing whatsoever to do with any recounts that occur.

22. Atrios: Kerry to introduce bill providing health insurance to every child
Here's the excerpt Atrios has:

http://atrios.blogspot.com/

And we must fight not only against George Bush's extreme policies -- we must also uphold our own values. This is why on the first day Congress is in session next year, I will introduce a bill to provide every child in America with health insurance. And, with your help, that legislation will be accompanied by the support of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

There are more than eight million uninsured children in our nation.

That's eight million reasons for us to stay together and fight for a new direction. It is a disgrace that in the wealthiest nation on earth, eight million children go without health insurance.

Normally, a member of the Senate will first approach other senators and ask them to co-sponsor a bill before it is introduced -- instead, I am turning to you. Imagine the power of a bill co-sponsored by hundreds of thousands of Americans being presented on the floor of the United States Senate. You can make it happen. Sign our "Every Child Protected" pledge today and forward it to your family, friends, and neighbors...

37. Reaching out to the People to make it happen!
I have read about this tactic it was discussed in some Dems forum, (can't remember where)Could have been Howard Dean. It's brilliant, let the people put pressure on their elected officals, and give them back the power for change!
This new approach is the best thing I've heard since the election! I will do my part to get the word out! !

45. No "Good Kerry/Bad Kerry" from me. But this tactic of getting "the people"
as his bill's co-sponsors is excellent. To carry it a step further, get each and every co-sponosr's name into the Congressional Record. Give government back to the people!

Indeed, could this work in the opposite direction? Instead of Kerry getting the pople to be co-sponors, could he allow the people to approach him with bills and get him to be *their* cosponsor?

I like this. Direct from my mouth to Congress' ear. Dunno if its legal or viable, but it sounds hopeful.

46. It puts pressure on elected officials by their constituents
If millions of people support this bill, any politician who doesn't will look bad. God knows, they're always worried about their home base! It will be a perfect vehicle to get rid of some these idiots! If this movement get momentum, they will have no choice but to listen to us and as a result become more approachable with new ideas. Kerry is keeping his campaign promise "Take back our country" It's a very smart move!

Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 06:36 PM by Gloria
of the campaign!!! We need to put out our own agenda...and if the GOP smashes it down, it gives us the EVIDENCE that we had the idea and that the GOP is OBSTRUCTING things that are for the benefit of the American people.

Healthcare was the FIRST THING Kerry promised he would send to Congress...GO JOHN!!!!!

And, I was thinking last night...we DO need a leader apart from Reid and Pelosi....they are the mechanics in the Congress...we need a NATIONAL spokesperson who can CAMPAIGN for us up to 2006 and beyond, even if they don't turn out to be the nominee.

A spokesperson bolstered by others....like Dean, Clark, etc.

Let's hope this can really happen!!!

34. I have not contributed to the Kerry bashing
There have been a lot of people bashing Kerry here, and frankly, I think its perfectly understandable. I don't agree with it, but I understand it.

That said, however, as the days continue to pass since the election, I have found myself wondering why he hasn't addressed Democrats directly even once.

I'm sure this loss was difficult for him, but for God's sake, after all the rhetoric about how this was the most important election in our lifetime, he would have to be blind not to know that Democrats NEED to hear from him. The fact that he hasn't done this yet is really beginning to piss even me off, and I was one of the few who wasn't pissed when he conceded.

Makes ya wonder.
