Is Iran next?
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 07:37 PM by Postman
Andrea Mitchell (Alan Greenspan's wife) on Hardball reporting about Colin Powell's new found information revealing Iran's nuclear capability "threat"

Also pointed to the "deep economic interests that some European countries have in Iran" and then goes on to mention , guess who, France.

I'm really tired of this childish obsession with all things French and to hypocritically point the finger at someone else yelling in condemnation "economic interests!!"...as if the United States' motives are altrusitic.

Gimme a friggin break.

1. Iran Might Be, but WHO's Gonna Fight?
I mean we are stretched so thin

Is this where the use of nukes is justified to "save" our soldiers lives against an "enemy", one of the "axis of evil" who might have nukes?

4. No need to invade and occupy.
It's entirely conceivable that this cabal of war criminals would merely drop MOABs at a dozen or two locations, carpet bomb (with cluster bombs) any concentrated military forces, and then just leave 'em to pick up the pieces themselves, saying "next time it'll be worse."

Then, if they want to just take over the southern Iranian oil fields, it'd take far fewer troops than it'd take to actually overturn the government and occupy the country.

11. Israel, with a little help from us.

Their planes will have to either refuel or land in Iraq, and must overfly Iraq and either Syria or Jordan to get to Iran. My bet is on Syria.

I have heard completely unsubstantiated rumors of Israeli pilots learning carrier landings and take-offs, but I think those are pure conjecture. The idea there would be to avoid overflights of any country. The pilots would fly from the carrier directly to Iran and back. We would provide cover and AWACS. And we would hope that the Iranians would not be able to shoot Sunburns at us from either the coast or sea-going vessels.

P.S. (on edit) Has anyone heard from Magistrate recently?

2. I have said that this would likely not be possible...
But many on this board have disagreed with me. The reason I say this is because China owns this country and China is in bed with Iran. But would have never guessed that this country would fight another pointless war of choice.

3. I can literally see Bush getting on TV at his desk in the evil office
and saying that using a nuke on Iran is "justified".

6. Iran or Korea
You can take your pick. Either way it would not make China happy.

I tend to think that all this talk is just a primer for a draft. I have a difficult time thinking that * would actually attack a Country that would risk upsetting China. They could break our economy in one fluid dump of securities.

I really hope that is the case, if not we're in for a world of hurt!

10. Lone_Star_Dem, sometimes I think this is the only way to get out of this
mess. It's the only way to wake up the sheeple who voted for this asshat in the "evil" office (as kuozzman puts it - LOL!)! If these crazy mofos do plan on invading Iran or N. Korea, economically we will be crumbled, but I feel it's the only way to get people's attention! I don't think people will revolt until they are literally starving!

12. iran can do what the fuck they want right now...
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 11:07 PM by rndmprsn
our intell is the laughing stock of the world...no on trusts us or will follow us into another war...not even the UK

we are tied down in a false war of WMD in iraq and in afghanistan the drug lords have taken over power from the taliban...we are tied down there too.

so..this begs the question...what can we do about iran, and i do agree there is a REAL threat there...but like i said above, we can't do anything about it except yell and try to get it into the sec council where we will be out voted.

this iran situation really shows how much the misguided war in iraq has cost us.
