Green Party at the local level?
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 08:56 PM by BayCityProgressive
Does anyone here support the Green party or other third parties at the local level? I have started supporting them locally but voting Dem for National office.

1. yes
i am a local green elected official; funny- one of the big debates in the green progressive community has to do with whether or not to build at the grass roots or run national candidatesto get visibility and keep the party on the ballot-

i strongly believe that local is the way to go.

when i was growing up in the 60's/70's in NY, there were four active parties- dem, rep, lib and conserv- it was not at all unusual for a candidate to win endorsement of two or even three parties- (i remember one year Jake Javits was on the Rep, Lib and COn (!) lines.

this would enable a strong, progressive coalition to be built. one that moves beyond DINOS.
