Anyone see Bill Moyers NOW tonight?
I started watching it midway through a piece about the Tigua Indian Casino scandal. I have never heard about this - not paying attention I guess (or is the media not covering it)?

Besides the indecency of the perpetrator's unethical behavior, their connections are stunning. Mentioned in Moyers piece were Ralph Reed, Tom Delay, Karl Rove, John Cornyn, RNC, etc.

Read more about this. Amazing. Shameful.

Scanlon/Abramoff/Ralph Reed casino-swindling scandal

Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff and public relations consultant Michael Scanlon quietly worked with conservative religious activist Ralph Reed to help the state of Texas shut down an Indian tribe's casino in 2002, then the two quickly persuaded the tribe to pay $4.2 million to try to get Congress to reopen it.

Investigating the Indian Gaming Scandal

Etched in the history of our great nation is a long and lamentable chapter about the exploitation of Native Americans.... Every kind of charlatan and every type of crook has deceived and exploited America's native sons and daughters. While these accounts of unscrupulous men are sadly familiar, the tale we hear today is not. What sets this tale apart, what makes it truly extraordinary, is the extent and degree of the apparent exploitation and deceit.

— Statement of Senator John McCain, Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, Oversight Hearing on Lobbying Practices Involving Indian Tribes, 9/29/04

4. In a democracy with a strong free press this scandal would be huge
But, alas, we live in the United States of America during the first decade of the 21st Century.

It will never hit the radar screen.

:grr:

5. That's why I haven't watched TV news since the night of Nov 2
I'm done with the RNC talking points, tabloid horseshit and lying by ommission. I would sincerely hope I'm not alone in this. Only by depriving those assholes of half their audience can we even have a faint hope of forcing change. Oh, corporate won't change, but the advertisers will squawk.

In any case, I'm rediscovering a lot of good music during the news hour. I'm getting things done, and my mood has improved considerably. I do recommend it to any of you who are still outraged at the way they treated Kerry during the campaign.

6. I'm with you
I see no point in paying for cable to finance their propaganda. I'm replacing cable with Netflix and a subscription at Hearts of Space.

It's too bad because there are a few shows I'd like to watch on cable but until I can subscribe to the channels I want to support, it will have to go by the wayside.

8. Ralph Reed
I especially got a kick out of Ralph Reed addressing a group ant telling there is no need to apologize for being a conservative. I found myslef asking the TV, "Is there a need to apologize for being a hypocrite?"
