Poll question: Will you accept Bush as your president?
We all know there's nothing we can really do about it if he ramrods another election. And we know that we have to at least feign support for the president because that's what our civic lessons taught us. But in your heart, if it turns out that Bush gets another four years, will you accept him as your president?

11. I didn't either, but I never admitted it to anyone.
This go around, I intend to remember every negative comment they made about Clinton during his 2 terms as president and I will treat Bush, just like they treated Clinton.

13. Even if it WASN'T rigged, no.
I didn't vote for torture, teaching creationism in science class, or the systematic invasion of the entire Middle East.

Even if 99% of Americans voted for him, he's still not MY president.

15. John Kerry is MY president!
Anyway you look at it, he should be in the white house right now! Either he really did win so therefore he's the president OR in 2000 the rules obviously changed to the loser gets to be the president.. so if he did lose then he should be in the white house!

22. I voted that the process was rigged and I won't accept Bush,
because even if the machines themseleves weren't rigged, making voters in black neighborhoods wait seven hours to vote while voters in white neighborhoods could vote quickly is a rigged process.

And I could never accept a torturer as president regardless of how got into office.

31. This is a FLAWED system!
No doubt the Founders , being rational men of the Enlightenment and inclined more towards Locke than Hobbs, ASSumed that a person who achieved this office having won only a slight majority of the vote, would treat the other half of the country with respect and due moderation. Unfortunately, their assumption was completely wrong.

"When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental--men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion, and whose dominant emotion is dread of what they cannot understand. So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack or be lost... all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre--the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." - H. L. Mencken, in Baltimore Sun, July 26, 1920.

Hence, it would be impossible for me to "accept" him as such, any more than I am going to accept him as the world heavyweight boxing champion, the winner of the world series, or the Easter Bunny -- even if Fox News says he is.

32. If he would be honest and upfront, probably. Honesty would unite Americans
far more than saying one thing and doing what appears to be the opposite.

His tax cuts which mainly help the wealthy, whatever else he might say, are only hurting this country. Using 9/11 and the war as an excuse, especially as an excuse for EVERYTHING, just doesn't ring true. What are we supposed to think?

34. I don't care if he won it legit
I simply do not agree with how he wants to run the country. He is not changing and niether am I.

He is in the Whitehouse and controls all the troops. This cannot be denied. That being said, he is hardly in any need of my acceptance. I see no need to be flexible here. Therefore, I feel entirely free to continue to loathe the man.

35. What do you mean "if"?
Kerry conceded defeat well over two weeks ago. Face it, election 2004 is over and we lost. This pathetic, childish nonsense about a "revote" and Kerry magically winning has got to stop. If we are to stand a chance of winning in 2008 we all need to face reality for a change.

38. I am not a political person
My entire life I have stayed away from it, as I believe most politicians are not to be trusted. But interestly enough, I could never bring myself to vote for a *. I have always considered myself an independent, but even I had enough sense to stay away from these people. Now is the time I can no longer ignore it. I hope there are more people like me out there, cause that's what it might take to turn things around.

Of course not, he will never be anyone's president, rather a spoiled brat who's playing a game. What horrifies me most is this thought...he is wreckless and a risk taker. Suppose he pushes that little red button. He can go underground and be safe, all in the sport, but we cannot.

39. I was dragged into this fight too, But for me it was back in '98.
During the Clinton witchhunt. It seemed like the whole world had gone mad. I didn't realize it then, but I know now that it was the loss of the Fairness Doctrine that allowed this madness to descend on our country. We really need to create our own alternate reality. Any president who would break the wall between church and state, is not an American president. Thus, Bush is not my president.
