Fess up: Who in here loves Jesus and thinks he'd be one of us?
I do.

Help the poor. Goodwill toward men. All that stuff. There is nothing wrong with Jesus. But there are some downright FRIGHTENING folks out there doing things in His name.

1. I doubt Jesus' existence, but I believe he'd be one of us.
If he did exist, by the way.

8. He advocated for the poor and the sick. He advocated peace over war.
The government crucified him because they thought he was a threat to their power. The church crucified him because they, also, thought he was a threat to their power.

He is liberal. Jesus cannot be happy with all the hate for our neighbors around the globe that these neo-cons are pushing. Hate for muslims. Hate for ethicities. Hate for gays. Hate was never in Jesus's teachings. Never.

11. Please!
When you use sarcasm. Denote it. It's not as obvious as you might think.

Maybe he would come and post here. Who knows? But I think he'd be for the environment, decent health care, all that good stuff.

Conference with a whip, chasing the fools out. Classic Jesus moment. Redux.

9. That is the Irony
Those who claim to follow the word of God in the name of Jesus, learn his teachings, but fail to follow in his foot steps. While those who act most as Jesus did, are reviled by those who claim to understand his teachings. Claiming to follow Jesus while denying his true nature, accepts hypocrisy as a virtue.

12. Jesus to the Religious Right:
Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.' But he will say, 'I do not know where you come from; go away from me, all you evildoers!'

14. I definitely think Jesus would be one of us. And I love him.
Jesus is the main reason why I'm a Democrat. In principle, the Democrats teach what Jesus taught. That is not to say some Democrats are not corrupt in practice, but at least in principle, Democrats are on the mark. I have always lived by the belief that those who ACT the most faithful are in practice the least faithful. That goes with freepers, fundies, and Catholic priests who molest children. Those who are most wicked need to hide behind a curtain of faith in order to live with themselves and with others.

15. I agree
The doorway is small.

The vast majority of these Fundies seem to think so many of them will be saved and go to heaven, and they neglect the message that not a lot of people will make it to heaven.

I don't actually believe in heaven, but I do think that the reward for following Jesus' teachings is knowledge that the future will be brighter because of it - that a true heaven will be acheived here on earth.

17. Holy shit!
You stole my beliefs!

Just kidding. I have been debating with this lady at work (she's cool, she's a Dem herself) about how I don't believe in heaven of hell as actual locations, but as a state of mind. If you follow Jesus' beliefs to a tee, your life on earth will turn into heaven. The hell and suffering you create here is because of your own doing. It has to do with self worth. You can be the poorest person on earth, and still value life and yourself far more than the richest, most powerful person on earth.

Do you think Bush is really happy with himself? All evidence shows that he dispises himself. He was an alcoholic for 20 years, a coke addict for god know how long, a screw up, a fuck up...what does he have about his life that he has accomplished by himself? Nothing! What about himself does he have to value? Nothing! It shows in his personality and in the way he treats other people. He punishes himself for not being as compitent as his father. And he always will. That's why he has a history of self-destructive behavior.

18. "Jesus is alright by me"
I seriously doubt he'd bother one moment with political parties. But whoever was looking out for the poor, the sick and the suffering would be his friend be they Buddhists, Pagans, Muslims, Atheists or "Christians".

He wouldn't be happy with warmongers and hypocrites.
Bush and his lot would definitely try to shut him up.
He should avoid small planes.

19. I believe in Him. I love Him. And he'd fit right in here at DU.
But we'd need to clean up the language a bit. :)

And for any freepers peeking in, NO, he'd run like crazy from your site and from you. I promise. And if you don't believe me now, some day, you will.
