Do NOT vacation at the Grand Canyon. Fight this...
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1119-28.htm

Creationists are infiltrating our NATIONAL PARKS. Boycott any place that bows down to these boneheads.

No more Grand Canyon for my family.

2. Honestly
If you stopped complaining, and thought for a moment about how much money you could make off of these rubes.

9. If we were sufficiently deficient in integrity to *want*

to make money off "these rubes," we would be Republicans.

4. Been there, seen it. Next!
The Grand Canyon is awesome, but it's in red-state, Mormon, gay-hatin' Arizona. I get a much bigger buzz from the "Little Grand Canyon" in Hawai'i.

5. Creationists have to attack the science of geology, because to give...
...geology any validity is to totally discredit all basis of creationism. Pretty soon the creationists will be demanding that geography be revised to show that the world is in fact flat and also the center of the universe. Any adults opposing this point of view will be catapulted into the Grand Canyon.

6. This has nothing to do with Red states
This applies ALL OVER the United States. The local guys tried to clean up the mess, but Washington stopped the move. This isn't about red vs. blue, this is about fact vs. revision. Your blue state and my red state (MT for me) will have the same Neo-NAZI revisionist crap purported as knowledge. This needs to be stopped everywhere, and it will if we want to.

7. "At a park called Dinosaur Adventure Land, run by creationists...
...near Pensacola, Florida, visitors are informed that man coexisted with dinosaurs".Bwahahahaha! Those idiots watched The Flintstones too many times.

8. Don't Go Outside! There be Fundies!
I love the Grand Canyon. I've been there 6 times, and if I could get a job up there I'd move. I'll be damned if I let a bunch of Fundies spoil my fun. The G.C. has tons of books that tell the history and geology - can't you just stay away from the superstitious crap?

Educating Fundies is like trying to teach a pig to sing.

10. Just a reminder--if you cut a place out for reasons like this--
write to them and tell them exactly what you're doing and why or they won't know and it won't have as much of an impact.

11. I Was There Just A Few Months Ago
And was very disappointed - lots of hazy blue smog supposedly from LA. Did get to see the California Condors though. And I noticed at least two plaques hanging in park facilities there that quoted Scripture. I was surprised to see that.

It seemed to me that the residents of northern Arizona were considerably more liberal than others in the state. I had more than one inquire regarding my voting intentions. They were very supportive of Kerry.

12. Frankly, the Grand Canyon is disgusting now anyway since they built all
snack and souvenir shops right on the rim. Heaven forbid people couldn't shop while they are peering down the canyon. They wouldn't know what to do with themselves.
