Don't think Big Brother is here? Check this out
http://triton.tpd.tno.nl/gigazoom/delft2.htm

If you check out the cars, you'll see this is the UK, but don't think for a second that the same technology isn't available and used all around the world.

3. I feel like Matt Damon...
too bad I don't look like him.

Um, the "nl" and the "delft" in the URL identify this as being the Netherlands, not the UK.

2. whoa... that is awesome, but scary.
It looks like a view from the top of a building, though.

4. Yawn. We had recognition software and cameras installed
here in Tampa some time ago. It'd pick out "likelies" from a crowd (they were installed in our nightspot area, Ybor City). I do believe they've since trashed it.

You haven't lived BB until you've been facially scanned to match a felon list.

7. it's a still, the point is just how clear it is when you zoom in.
zoom in, give it a moment to repixelate, and you can see very clearly

10. Y'know all those movies in which they
had the computer geek zoom in on a photo like 10,000x and it was still razor-sharp, and you holler "No freakin' WAY, dude"? Guess we can't holler that anymore.

I shudder to think what Arschkropft would do with this.

11. This is a mosaic of pictures stitched together
I'm not sure exactly how this works, but I found one spot where there is a clear 'line' between two pictures. It would not have stuck out too much, except there is one wheel of a bicycle rolling along.

Here's the pic, since it would be a little difficult to describe exactly where I zoomed in to see this:

12. tech details
I got curious about how this was done, and found some more details. This picture is comprised of 600 different photos, all merged together.

Here are some other 'anomalies' caused by the method of creating this picture. Here is a car merged into a bus: http://www.tpd.tno.nl/smartsite1051.html

And here is a floating torso:
http://www.tpd.tno.nl/smartsite1050.html

These were on this main page, which explains some of the technical details: http://www.tpd.tno.nl/smartsite591.html
