Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 07:47 PM by greenbriar
back in 1997 or 98 he joined the Army. They lied to him and he would not have gotten his student loans paid which is why he joined...

well to make a long story short, he blew out his knee...ACL ended up not even finishing boot camp. He has discharge papers

got a letter saying he needed to finish.

WHAT THE FUCK

bad thing is...he voted bush because of Abortion even after months of me working on him...

sucks to be him...

I told him

you voted for the fucking bastard, I didn't, hope you got money for a lawyer

after the election, I was pretty depressed and my family all told me "its gods will bush won"

when anything happens, I am just gonna say

"its gods will"

4. here is my two cents...
I was in the military...6 years active Navy.

If he got out in boot camp with an injury what they maybe trying to do is ask him if he wants to 'rejoin' go to MEPS and have them check out his injury if he MEPS clears him he can rejoin. I doubt they are demanding he show up.

don't get me wrong, I love him, but he voted for the puke. I warned all my family. They thought I was too radical...and not christian enough.

I told them I was very much a christian and they would see it

13. I understand what you mean.
I feel the country as whole needs swift kick in the ass or some major hardship in order for it to wake up and realize what is going on.

It is sad but another depression or some other disaster is the only thing will wake people up.

on 9/11 and they look to Saint W. to save them. They are so scared they can't think straight. Heaven help them if our country was subjected to a sustained attack.

7. Sorry to hear that
Have never understood voting for Shrub on the abortion issue; number one, abortions are up under Bush; number two, Iraq now has untold numbers of mass graves filled with innocent children killed in Bush's War; number three, Bush's War will go on killing untold numbers of children through the use of depleted uranium bombs alone; number four (and I hope this is not the case with your brother) those of draft age who voted for Bush on the abortion issue will most likely find themselves in Iraq or other war zone, firing upon innocent children.

18. yes, I was thinking the same thing.
you know what this means, they are using the dough ends in this batch, then they are going to start another batch with a whole new bag of flour (the draft)

my brother has been incommunicado with my family for months. The other day I took the oppty to say to my parents that perhaps he and his wife wised up and took their draft age sons to Canada, in anticipation of the draft.

(this isn't why of course, because they voted for shrub, like everyone else in my family did.

9. Welcome to the backdoor draft
The Army is scraping the bottom of the Individual Ready Reserve for anyone that still has a heartbeat...doesn't matter if you are fat, fifty and haven't trained for years...if you have the least bit of time on your original obligation, did not "formally" resign your commission, or do not have your official discharge from the Reserves, PACK YOUR BAGS.

Which is why I am frantically searching for my discharge papers.

I know a senior couple who voted for * because of gay marriage and now they're freaking out about SS privatization.

31. New Military facility to rehab amputees for return to duty
A previous post mentioned a $10 million dollar facility to be built to retrain/rehab military amputees to climb walls, ropes, etc., so they can return to full duty.

If this is the case, a blown out knee ain't getting him out.

A marine NCO that was interviewed on AAR, told of recruits that once failed boot camp and classified as "Unfit for duty" to be returned home are now being passed through and sent on to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The CON chickenhawks have changed the rules so don't rely on what used to be cause it's the bodies they need. Don't matter how young or how old. Don't matter if healthy or ill. Don't matter what family crisis you maybe having.

My 17-year old grandson, who will be graduating high-school and is applying to colleges, is being bombarded by the recuiters promising college payoffs, world-travel, great bennies, etc. His Mom, Dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles are trying hard to keep his mind on his main goal and what is truth and fiction but I can see the pressure this young man is now under.

The best he could do (think any soldier) is to get an thorough "independent medical examination" from outside of the "system". Then get another IME coming out. You do not want to trust their medical doctors.

35. I joined the army in 1989 and was discharged at the end of basic
training for failing the pushup part of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). When I was discharged, the army lawyer told me that this discharge won't help me and it won't hurt me but you still have your 8 year obligation to the Army. That obligation ended in 1997.

I was talking with my wife this past weekend about how I suddenly had this feeling that I'm going to be hearing from the Army sometime in the near future. Reading the post by greenbriar confirms to me that others who were discharged in basic are being searched out by the Army. Will I hear from them? I don't know. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I can't help but think that the Army will do everything it can to fill its ranks without asking for a draft.
