1. From what I gather it hasn't been denied, we just lost the lawsuit
to get them to start the recount earlier than Dec 6th.

The judge affirmed the right to a recount, but appeal must wait until all votes are counted the first time.

Judge Denies Demand for Ohio Recount
TOLEDO, Ohio - A federal judge on Tuesday denied a request by third-party presidential candidates who wanted to force a recount of Ohio ballots even before the official count was finished.

Judge James G. Carr in Toledo ruled that the candidates have a right under Ohio law to a recount, but said it can wait. The judge wrote that he saw no reason to interfere with the final stages of Ohio's electoral process. Officials have said the results will be certified by Dec. 6.

The lawsuit by Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik had asked Carr to issue an order requiring Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to immediately begin statewide recount of Nov. 2 voting results.

5. I think the choice is simple for the American people....
...allow the recounts where requested or take to the streets and begin mass protests, work stoppages and revolt against the established order. That's what happened at the beginning of the 20th century when the established corrupt power base went against the will of the people.

8. It's kind of ironic - and sad
Cobb and Badnarik, who are technically our political opponents, are the ones we now rely upon to stand up for our own candidate. I am reserving judgment, but that's how it appears at the moment.

4. I don't really see what choice the judge had
Let's face it ... how can anyone demand a recount when the final results aren't "officially" known yet? Yes I know, Blackwell is intentionally dragging his feet and it would have been nice if the judge addressed that. (Has it always taken Ohio until December to certify Presidential elections?)

In any case, you can't recount something that hasn't been counted yet. It sucks, but it's true. :-(

6. So, what the hell DOES this mean?
Maybe I'm just dense, but I'm not understanding this. Recount still possible or not?

9. Known as stonewalling, I suppose.
I still think we should pursue the recounts even after the dates for finishing them are passed. We need the documentation for history that fraud occured. Also, it might help for investigation and impeachment of the crooks in charge.

And gave her mother forty whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.

11. Recount "possible", but probably not in time to make a difference.
There are VERY few days between the date the recount could start (not even considering possible denials and court challenges) and the date the Congress has to receive a slate of electors.

FAR less time than a few counties in Florida had to count similar numbers of ballots.

12. Amen!
My representative, Tammy Baldwin, is on the list! I couldn't be more proud. It's gotta happen now. I'm going to contact her and tell her how much I appreciate her vote.
