Radio Host Apologizes for Condi Rice 'Aunt Jemima' Remark
A radio host apologized Monday for calling secretary of state nominee Condoleezza Rice "Aunt Jemima," but refused to back down from his criticism that she is a "black trophy" of the Bush administration.

John "Sly" Sylvester, the program director and morning personality on WTDY-AM, wrote a letter of apology to local newspapers.

"I'm concerned that I have offended many African-Americans by using a crass term to describe an incompetent, dishonest political appointee of the Bush administration. I apologize," wrote Sylvester, who is white.

Sylvester wrote he would not, however, apologize for criticizing Rice, saying "she has allowed herself to be used as a black trophy by an administration."

1. Aunt Jemima I would enjoy!
She seems like a cool person to have breakfast with. He should apologize to HER for the comparison.

2. Actually he did, on the air, which I thought was funny. I would
think he should apologize to Aunt Jemima; the nerve comparing her to Condeliar.

4. It's the "Weezie Jefferson" effect
There was an old episode of "The Jeffersons" where George was applying to be a spokesman or something for a big dry cleaning company.

So, for "sympathy", he brings along "Weezie". The big giant heads get together behind George & Louise's backs and say "Hey, we get a lot of 'capital' with G as a Black, but we'll get a double whammy if we use a black woman, Weezie." They hire her, and take two strikes off their "quota", instead of just one.

Bush wants "Weezie" Rice so that any attack on her would be a double "oh, look at those evil liberals! 'We' give them what they demand, and they can't handle it!"
