...that a grown man can't handle getting hit with a lightweight plastic cup. Now they know he went and punched someone...fuck getting suspended; he should be in jail.
I'm not saying it was right, but I'm a hillbilly, so I can't imagine someone doing this to someone almost twice your size and expecting them to take it...just the grit-spittin' hick in me comming out...
It would have been nice if Artest had shown some restraint but there are a lot of men in this country who would have reacted exactly as he did. You'd better not walk up to some men and throw beer or other object in their faces and expect not to get a hostile reaction. It's just not to be done. Green is also a grown man and he knew better. Yet, it is Artest who is getting the blame when all he was doing was minding his own business. The fans are getting outrageous. They think it's OK to taunt millionaire players. If an African American had precipitated a brawl as Green did, the authorities and the public would be demanding that legal action be taken against him. I've heard several commentators speak of the racially tinged taunts black players must endure. Just because one is a young black millionaire does not mean he should have to suffer verbal or physical abuse. The leagues need to take a stand against abusive fans or there will probably me more unfortunate incidents.
And if Artest would have sat up and yelled "who threw that cup" and got security to go get him, then Green would probably have spent a night in jail and paid a fine and would go down in history with William Ligue Jr. and the rest of the disruptors who've been put to shame.
