so . . . does Colin Powell have any integrity left? . . .
after whoring for the Monkey House for the past four years, he's probably in a better position than anyone to blow the whistle on things like why we invaded Iraq, what we plan to do in Iran, and just how screwed up Bush really is . . . anyone think he might want to take the opportunity to salvage his reputation (and possibly save the nation) after he leaves office? . . . just wonderin' . . .

6. Not likely
He just got tired of getting stepped on by Rummie and Dick. He doesn't have the integrity to tell the truth.

7. Ummm...
Did he GAIN credibility for his role in trying to cover up the My Lai incident?

Did he GAIN credibility for his role as a bag man during the iran Contra scandal?

Did he GAIN credibility by willingly subjecting himself to the humiliation of being a Republican House Boy for the last thirty tears?

Jeesh...

8. No
He quit and left the country's foreign policy in the hands of dangerous psychopaths.

So much for being the soldier who put duty and country above everything else.

10. No
He's too late. When he was in such a position of authority that he could have turned the course of this conflict, he became one of its most active advocates. Despite his knowledge of how this would probably transpire, he worked harder than anyone else to ensure that the Iraq invasion would happen as soon as possible, including that humiliatingly weak presentation before the United Nations and his presence on dozens of TV programs.

Most of us on this site would have given up anything that we possessed, just for the power to stop this illegitimate use of military force. It would have been worth terrible personal loss and suffering.

Colin Powell is a wealthy and well-respected man, for whom a secure early retirement was the worst possible consequence of taking a stand. It was inexcusable cowardice to reject such a great opportunity.

15. "Will be seen"? Too late!
Fucking Mikey Bowell is selling the public airwaves to the highest bidder and then turning around and approving ill-thought-out moneymaking schemes to destroy the usability of the rest of the spectrum for other users...

18. I liked Powell even in the Cabinet....
I don't think he kept quiet and just went along with the show like everyone here thinks. Publically he kept quiet but behind the scenes I think he kept things from getting worse than they were.

I have heard that the neocons in the Administration were going to hoist Chalabi up as the savior in Iraq and build the transitional govt around him. It is rumored the state department under Powell nixed this idea.

The neocons wanted to just allow Chalabi and Shiites to gain majority control over Iraq's government and Powell didn't believe pushing Sunnis into a politically powerless position would've been a good idea.
