Preparing for the Draft...
With this latest cutting of student Pell grants and other financial aid, I was struck by whom directly would be affected by this movie.
The poor and lower to middle class kids and families.
Okay, so they don't go to school because they can't afford it.
Given that little ingot of information, would it be a stretch to predict that in early September, when those students, that would usually be in school, but aren't and are now out looking for work, that suddenly, the military starts a huge recruitment campaign? Or even the draft?
With the angle of making money for college in the armed forces?
Until another terror attack, when they can call a draft, I see these various little movements on the part of the * admin, working the psychology to get kids in uniform.
And since moron is so tight with the corps, would it be a further stretch to say that he tells them to tell their various PR people to only hire older people. Against the law, I know, but that hasn't stopped them before.
First you cut off funds for school, then you limit employment opportunities, then they hold out the carrot of money for school in the military.
Call me crazy, but I don't trust a damn thing they do. Everything to me by them is motivated to invade another country.
Just my two cents.

2. There does seem to be a plan to it all.
Get rid of abortion and then birth control so we all start popping out more babies that can grow up to be soldiers. Drive the economy into the toilet so people don't have other options -- they'll need to go into the army to feed themselves. Get rid of any hope of getting an education so, again, the army will be the only option. While the rich will just sit back and get fat off of all the death.

14. In the new world order ...
... every country will have a "specialty". Our specialty will be the new "legions". We will be the soldiers.

They're outsourcing all the jobs that require "education" overseas (besides lawyer). They're importing foreign workers under H1-B and LZ-1 for just as much.

Education???? They say we need more education????

We need to wake up!!!

5. That was the whole idea behind passing that
bill through the Senate last Saturday night. It will force kids to enlist to get their education and If it doesn't of course they will reinstate the draft. It's always those of us who can least afford to send their kids who get screwed. You statement is positively RIGHT ON

6. If I were a male, I would never enlist
and if they bring back the draft, I would choose jail over the military. Thank God I am too old for that crap.

7. I am with you all the way on that
I'm 47 Female and I was so hideously mad on 9/11 and for along time after, in fact I'm still pretty well pissed, that if I had thought for one minute they would take me I would have went to kill people with my bare hands. But after Iraq I am over shrub and all of his shit. The only one I would like to choke right now is not reachable.

Well hey, if Iran and Syria decide to meet each other in the middle, a draft will be necessary! :)

(Hopefully everyone realizes my post is intended to show how stupid it was for the US to go to Iraq)

16. It worked last time ...
... and the American people didn't get it.

We're living in 1984. We'll keep getting hit with "buzzbombs" and the people will cry for their Fuhrer Bush even more.

15. I think they'll take a different approach ...

Bush has promised "no draft". So there has to be SOME cover:

a) there will be another terror attack. This time the "magic passport" will point to a Syrian or Iranian.

b) They will simply require service from EVERYONE. Everyone will have to go through boot camp. Then they'll "call you when they need you". Of course, the kids of the wealthy AND ESPECIALLY the kids of GOPers will not be called up. And if they are, they won't get anywhere near "the front lines".

Lets get really serious here. There are plenty of occupations in the armed services. Those who do the fighting are only the "tip of the spear". Even if they DO draft their spawn into the armed forces, those kids will be serving well away from the "hot zones"

They can shuffle them off to active duty in Hawaii or Germany. They could have them serve domestically as clerical staff on bases or in the Pentagon.

Now remember something else here. The more "educated" you are, the more likely you'll be assigned office work instead of grunt work. Them are the facts. Remember the guy from "Black Hawk Down" who was deemed too valuable for combat because he had a "rare skill" that is TYPING!!!!

I'm 90% sure there will be a draft in 2005. Fuhrer Bush cannot sustain his Iraq campaign without one. The timing of these things are critical. There is the 2006 congressional elections to consider. And Bush hasn't rigged ALL the machines yet. So they will need an impetus or momentum to get draft justification. They cannot wait until 2006 to increase their force level.

"I like bright shiny things, things to push, pushing means capital, I have capital to spend, spending is capital, I spent this capital into debt...what were we talking about? Oh yeah, red shiny capitals."
