Poll question: What's the Swingingest Swing State
Last night I asked a the question What Was the Bluest of the Blue states http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2743614&mesg_id=2743614

It seemed to go off pretty well leading to an interesting discussion, not bad for my virgin GD post. Unfortunately, for some of us at least, it turned into a bit of a "my state is better than you state" type thread.

Perhaps more in the spirit of DU (Dems helping other Dems regardless of our boundaries) we should ask "What's the Swingingest Swing state?"(Humm...'Swingingest' doesn't seem to be in my dictionary) by that I mean, what state should be blue but for some reason isn't. I mean we all know where our base is, now we have to expand it.

Before I begin I'm aware of the recent frauds that occurred last election, I'm talking politically in general--Govs. Reps. et. al., just using the presidential results (something we're all familiar with) as an example.

Ohio and Florida come to mind immediately (though I don't know if I would trust Florida as long as Jeb is Gov.)

Then there are those states that, for whatever reason, went blue in 2000 by changed in 04, like Iowa and New Mexico.

I suppose you can add NH to the mix for going red to blue.

A few others that were close, (I'm trying to limit myself to the red states here) Missouri, Virginia, Arkansas, did I forget any one?

I come here to DU to enlighten myself, I'm trying to get a feel for for what the mood is like around the country.

So what state do you think is most likely to join our team; what's the swingingest swing state?

(damn, still can't find it in my dictionary!)

2. NH was very close in 2000. If it went Gore Fla. would have been irrelevent

NH would have put Gore over the top.

3. I personally belive...
New Hampshire is going true blue (at least that's what my sources north of the border tell me). But us Dem are still going to have to work hard getting there...It's a very independent state, lots of Nader voters in 2000. I live in a fairly Dem area about twenty miles south, and after the 2000 selection I used to quip "If we only lived twenty miles north, Gore would have one easily."

Pesky thing that electoral college.

(BTW I voted for Ohio myself.)
