Why are freepers so obsessed with Dan Rather?

so they attack anyone who the mediawhores label. They used the swiftboat liars to attack Kerry and Rather. They attacked Rather for the document, not the truth behind the document or the interview with the TAFR General's secretary. Notice they will not even look past this 73-year old Journalists recent AWOL outing. They don't care that he covered Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran standing with those countries fighters long before anyone ever heard of 9/11. He spent much time on the ground with our troops while George was sniffing the white powder and Dicky was scrambling up the ladder to wealth. He is like Helen Thomas.....trashed and ignored ignoring the wealth of history and information they can relate to our citizenery.


Their sons and daugthers, husbands, wives and even grandfather's will be going to Iraq....they will not be immune, because they supported Georgie and Company. They know they have been had, but they can't take responsibility for their actions, just like their fearless AWOL/deserter leader never took responsibility for his actions.

Personally, I think their obsessions are time-fillers between more physical masturbatory interludes. Can't you just see the scene when Mom comes home and opens the cellar door and asks:"Whatcha doin'?"

They get this shit directly from their handlers -- Rush, Hannity, etc. What Rush and Hannity says comes from the elitist intellectual right wing.

You remember the quote from the Suskind article about the Bush aide who says that discernable reality isn't the way that the world works anymore and that the administration are "history's actors who create new realities."

The object is to completely dislodge the perceived "objectivity" of the media -- even though we all know it's biased, it's definitely not extreme right-wing propaganda -- but they're trying to dislodge even the notion, so they can slip the echo chamber in as "the new objectivity."

Remember, right now, most people with one working brain cell know that Rush and Hannity are just bullshitting infotainment slingers, and peddlers of right-wing propaganda -- but, eventually, over time -- and believe me, these guys can have their eye on the distant future -- if the model of objective journalism is removed or discredited, they can slip in their operatives in place.

True story. Keep your eyes on these motherfuckers. This is why they're so obsessed with the NYT, as well -- and it is the reason that it is smart for them to keep the "liberal media" myth, alive.

***on edit: If you're going to "shift reality," the first thing you have to do away with is modernity, from which stems the scientific method, as well as the notion of "objectivity." I have studied with extreme right-winger political philosophy teachers, and they don't want to have anything to do with modernity, particularly the Catholic hard right, who people don't think about, but who make the fundies look like Marylin Manson.

The philosophical alternatives to modernity are postmodernism and classicism -- and they don't want to have anything to do with postmodernism, either -- though, interestingly, their attempts to "shift" reality underscore some of postmodernism's points about subjectivity -- the right want's God and the noble birth or the philosopher king -- it all ties in with the Straussians and Plato and everything.

I know a lot of people are scared of the GOP -- but if you know this other shit -- you're REALLY fucking scared of them.

They have some control over the mainstream media right now, but they need total control and that total control needs to be under cover of mainstream media.

Control of the media means control of reality.
