I'm going through withdrawal
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 09:02 PM by shesemsmom
It isn't like I haven't got enough to do with Thanksgiving and Christmas but several times a day I get the urge to grab my election bag and run out the door and contact voters and talk about the candidates. I've done plenty of elections over the years, and I have never ever done this before. Always after it was over, I was able to lay it down and go on to the next thing. But not this time. Do you think it's because we lost our state rep. Our Congressman ,Our Governor and Kerry. Help me out here, or am I just crazy

3. The campaign was exciting and a blast.
That's what I miss -- the exhilaration of the movement and possibility of a kinder world in which to live. Dana ; )

10. We didn't lose our dreams
We've found each other. And through our GOTV efforts we found others IN OUR OWN NEIGHBORHOODS who have the same dreams. I am proud to be a Democrat and of our wonderful warriors who put themselves in harms way (in the direct line of sight of the rovian machine) and thumbed their noses at the phonies. It was (is) wonderful! Dana ; )

13. Oh Dana you are so right
forgive me. I must say all the people I've meet at doors and all the people I worked with sure did a lot to improve my soul. I guess I just miss that. I even worked the Kerry campaign in Ohio on line and made some new friends there. I don't know, some times I just feel so responsible, like I should have done more. I said that to a friend the other night and she said that I of all people had no business feeling guilt. I had worked this county so hard. I didn't know what to say

19. I beat myself up a bit too ...
you know, didn't knock on that last door at 8:50 p.m. election night or I didn't start canvassing and working for moveon soon enough. As if I could have done more or gotten those last few voters to the poll who would've turned the election. But as I've learned in 12-step, I'm not that powerful (lol). It's "we the people" baby. We will unmask the phonies and lay them bare. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! D ; )

4. I feel exactly the same way.
I'm glued to DU like it's an underground resistance radio. I think it's because deep down I don't really think that the election is over.

Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 09:12 PM by juliagoolia
Its almost like I keep checking to see if perhaps I was wrong, and a MIRACLE happened and somehow Kerry is going to be sworn in Jan 20th and life stands a chance at getting better sooner than later.

spelling edit

12. Im too worn emotionally
To hold out too much hope on recounts........... I need to plan ahead for emotional reasons. If you have ever fought city hall, and I have through years of court battles, you get to a point where you just pick your battles. In this case, I have to move on, but am still devastated and hope someone else is doing the fight .. and I hope that I will just log on here and find out.. there has been a Miracle!'

Silly isn't it.

15. Well I will keep on checking then!
Laugh.

We need to Stick together. I must say though, that I have NEVER ever been so afraid of losing my country. In fact, I have never really ever been afraid of that.

I AM NOW. I am frightened that my children and grandchildren will not have the America I grew up in to live in. I am frightened there may be violence in our own streets. Fascism seems to always end in ugliness. I hope it ends peacefully here..

Have to step out to mom's house behind mine..be back in a bit.

16. Yes
I too am really afraid of all those things and they weren't a true reality until 3 weeks ago. I feel a fear I've never felt before and I don't like that feeling, and I guess I ought to be doing something about it so I reach for may bag of now out dated absentee aps and registration forms and go no where

17. We didn't "lose" Kerry
He is still in the Senate and MA will keep him there as long as he wants the seat. Sorry to look at the bright side but sometimes it's the best way to view reality.

20. No need to go through withdrawal.........
The interims are only 2 years away. Pick a target, catalogue his/her voting record. Time to go local.
