Declaration of independence ban said bogus...
Just got word on this from Dave Johnson, of Seeing the Forest. Spread the word... This is right wing spin under the guise of a news story, and Reuters bought it.

Declaration Of Independence banned!

The seemingly preposterous headline made major waves on the conservative Drudge Report and Fox News network Wednesday, joining Reuters and the Associated Press, in a misleading story that exhibited serious reportorial negligence, RAW STORY has learned.

The story, which reports that a California teacher has been banned from giving students documents from American history that refer to God, including the Declaration of Independence is in fact a product of right-wing spin.

In fact, Cupertino public school principal Patricia Vidmar banned documents relating to God because the teacher had been forcing students to listen to what some felt was Christian propaganda, a media watchdog site reports. According to the site, the school had told him to stop but he did not comply, at which point the principal required that he submit his lesson plans to her in advance.

<snip>

A media watch site, Seeing the Forest, first caught the story Wednesday evening.

“The school did not ‘ban the Declaration of Independence’ – that is just a lie,” Editor Dave Johnson, who is a fellow at the Commonwealth Institute, wrote. “This story is like when you hear that a man was ‘arrested for praying’ and you find out he was kneeling in the middle of a busy intersection at rush hour and refused to move.”

He who lies first, tells the story the loudest. It's already been pumped into the totalitarian brains of the Bushbots. I'm sure I'll have to hear about this at Thanksgiving, and I'll have to jam a turkey leg up some Bushbot's pig snout.

And, of course, they won't believe ME, because I'm the one with the poli sci degree, as opposed to their daily shovel full of shit from Rush and Hannity.

6. The Declaration of Independence doesn't mention "God" as such
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 10:17 PM by Art_from_Ark
but as "Nature's God", and the "Creator", a semantic difference which was important to the Founding Fathers.

7. I knew this supposed teacher was pushing his christo-fascist propaganda on
kids. It was the only rational reason for the whole story.

Drudge must be snorting high octane Coke. Man his brain is messed up some times. Other times he seems like he is almost coherent. It's about 50/50.

Many stories on the Internet about him being gay. Very strange that he is a Republican propaganda tool being gay and all.

8. Drudge is gay
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 10:32 PM by rawstory
We have been told by good sources; there will likely be something on that in the upcoming months. There's actually some quite fascinating and humorous stories about his activities.

But that's not just an Internet rumor; I'll leave it at that for now.
