Oliver Stone and the most expensive documentary ever, $200 million
Just saw the movie. It sucks as a movie, History Channel could've done better with a few million. Too much talking, acting sucks, everything is in disarrary. If you had no idea who he was, you'd be lost completely. It didn't seems like a movie at all. They had "Ptolemy" tell the story for almost 30 minutes. To make things worst, the gay angle ensures that this movie will crash and burn in the box office.

People don't associate "gay" or "bi-sexual", crying, with the things needed to achieve what Alexander the Great did. True or not, they don't want to hear it. They refuse to believe it and the same people Stone needs to see the movie elected Bush. Even if it was historically true (most likely was), if he wanted to make money he could've mentioned it tangently, instead of displaying it every chance he could. When someone hands you $200 million ($150 to make + $50 to market), you need to make that money back. A movie can play with the facts, it's not a documentary.

and yeah, the budget is rediculous. i don't think the gay thing would have mattered if the movie was good.

3. History channel had a doc on ATG a week or two back
It was a true documentary with historians yakking away but also with actors playing the characters. I thought it was great.
