Protest?
I am still wondering why we aren't protesting this election.

It would seem we have tons of evidence and people working behind the scenes, but why aren't we out there in front of Fox on 6th Avenue and making a stink?

Just need an answer here, please. I'm new to this, so I may be way off base on thinking we should be protesting.

2. but....
the longer we wait, the less time we have before January.

Don't we have enough proof?

And why not at least just protest the media's silence on all of the reports?

3. If the Ukrainian Media was as controlled and biased as ours,
they would probably all be at home sitting on the couch or not knowing something is up because the "TV" said otherwise....

6. The only reason I'm not out there is I'm waiting for someone/some group
to organize and announce something...

Actually, there is a protest planned in SF on Monday through redeatbush.org (or is it .com)?

Anyway, I was going to post the info, just saw the email...

I know that if tommorrow MoveOn.org or another group announced that January 6th, 2005 there were going to be mass protests across the country, I'd even fly to DC....

I just don't want to look like the crazy loon standing on a corner holding a sign solo....I'm sure most people are feeling like me....I would also personaly try to organize something, but I'm a stay home mom with little if no help right now, so time wise its hard to commit what it would take, but I will show up at any and all organized events....

Surely in the Ukraine, this is what happened too....people organized, talked about it and housewifes like me joined the fray....

7. Pachamama, I know exactly
what you mean.

But, I'm not even sure we should all have to fly anywhere. I'm in New York City.

What if, everyone of us, demonstrated at the same time across the country?

Even if we only got 50 together at once, or even if we could organize something like what the internet pushed after 9/11.

I remember standing outside my apartment building with a candle, as did -many- others. It was broadcast across the internet and it worked. And, if we did it this way, no need to get permits, etc.

8. I'm in CA...I would be willing to fly to DC like I did for the March on DC
for Women's lives back in April....I even came with my 3 month old baby....

You could atleast take the Amtrak train to DC - far more convenient then me flying....

But your absolutely right Solitaire - If all of us went out and mobilized across the country at the same time, it would send a powerful message...

With everything going on in Iraq and the massacre in Fallujah, and our dollar sinking and the fraudulent election, I can't understand why MoveOn.org, Answer, the ACLU, PFAW, ACT, and 100's of other organizations aren't mobilizing a mass protest right now.

I can't believe the Unions haven't called for strikes...

What are they waiting for? I know I'm waiting for them...what are they waiting for? :eyes:

9. Pachamama...
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 10:33 AM by Solitaire
I'm one of those people that were out of work for over 3 years after 9/11. I just started working this year for 1/3 of what I made before, and so, not even sure I can visit my parents at Christmas.

I couldn't travel right now, but once I get back on my feet (hopefully), I would and will participate.

But, I will do all I can in NYC for now.

10. So sorry to hear this Solitaire....so many are in your situation...
But you right, you can do a lot in NYC...

I have no doubt that you and atleast half a million or more New Yorkers would show up to protest what is going on....

I think the key right now is who is going to be leading the way and organizing...(and getting the word out)....

This is the key to it happening....

11. yes....
I'm not sure, perhaps we should try to send out a protest night? You know, like the 9/11 one?

It was started with emails.

What do you think?

19. I think the more emails we send to friends and organizations like
MoveOn, the more likely we are to start seeing action....

And if its as simple as you and me getting together 10 friends and standing on a busy corner on Friday rush hour and holding some signs, we might atleast feel better and start something that grows?

12. There should be protests every Friday afternoon in every city!!!
I say that starting next week, starting Dec. 3rd, every Friday afternoon across the country....

This would mean that on Friday Dec. 10th, the day electors meet (Monday the 13th is when they are required to submit the votes) and then every Friday after that.

Meanwhile the mother of all protests should be held on Thursday January 6th in DC on the Mall and in front of the Capital when the joint House of Congress and Senate meet to "certify" the vote.

There is no way the elected representatives and the media could ignore the importance of their votes that day, especially if Representatives in the House call again upon Senators to sponsor a bill investigating the vote or to hold back on the certification...

That way momentum builds in the weeks leading up to the joint session of congress and even on the Friday that the Electors meet....

Just Pachamama's two cents worth...

I think we should all be emailing MoveOn and other organizations to organize this ASAP....

I'm sure all of us across the US could take atleast a few hours out of our Friday afternoon's for the next month (including on Christmas Eve day) to protest.....

13. Yup, I agree...
I just feel like I want to "do" something, besides clicking on links to "petition" and to email friends with links to the news about the fraud.

:)

Like I keep saying, I just want to go out and protest. I think this is the only way the media is going to pay any attention.

16. Monday in CA
See in GD, CA State or Activism.

Want to march? Light the fire and hit the streets. There have already been activities all over the Country, but I think we just are not hearing about them.

18. Go to Redefeatbush.org - Great info and links...
They also have cool Umbrellas and they are planning a big Counter-Inaugural...they too need to be asked to do something sooner than 1/20 and instead look at 1/6/05....

They are however planning action in San Francisco on Monday 11/29
