1. A festive reminder

Someone who lives in my neighborhood has white Christmas lights arranged into the four-digit death toll in Iraq. They'll change it daily as required to keep current. Because their house is set high on a well-traveled road, they have a perfect display, and the numbers are huge.

It took me awhile to get it -- people would come to my house and ask "What are those numbers in lights down there?" But you don't have to think long to figure it out.

I guess mentioning a troop here and a troop there just lulls everybody into a stupor.

I do hear them mention the total casualties though but it's comparing months to months, and pre-"mission accomplished" banner numbers to current numbers that paints the real picture.

That and asking "why" we are killing any troops and all.

Now that milestone's been passed, there seems little mainstream interest in America in noting the tally. And there wasn't a whole lot before.

May they find just one thing to be thankfull for!!

Tears are shed today for those men and women...their personal courage to continue when things are sooooo bad. They don't make the rules...just wish they could say "NO"to this criminal war without being punished.
