There are WMD in Iraq and there will be no draft.
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 12:30 PM by Tom Yossarian Joad
I continue reading about Viet Nam era Vets being recalled and sources stating that more troops are needed to continue the insanity on its intended course. Many of us who have been reading here have been amazed at the audacity of this administration in its telling of lies so obvious (to us) with virtual immunity from the press and prosecution. We watched the punitive leak of Valerie Plame to a right wing commentator, we watched the failed attempt to turn the Jessica Lynch into a last man standing hero and her rescue heroic as well... The list goes on and on.

How many lies can this administration hoist upon the 51 percenters before they smell the coffee? Will they continue to line up behind this madman simply because he says "Jesus" a lot?

Are that many Americans really THAT stupid or are they simply so superstitious that they believe that the "end is nigh" and it all really doesn't matter anyway?

The people who should be concerned about fairness to the working class have turned now to the very people that will continue to drive them down, making health care unfordable, education substandard and making sure that any jobs that are considered substandard because of the pay for effort or safety concerns will be filled by insourcing or outsourcing?

When did so many become so blind?

2. They will say there will not be a draft up until the day they draft people
How can people not understand this. They cannot afford to take the political hit unless they absolutely cannot go another day without it. Until then they will just be hoping and trying to make something happen to avoid it.

The question is, if we dont get out of Iraq soon, there will come a time where the government is going to have to make a decision. Either they will have to institute a draft, or they will have to retreat.

Which do you think they will choose?

9. I think the decision has already been made.
Bushco has no compunction against lying to us lemmings. I'm sure it's for the corporate good.

6. The advent of the 24 hour media propaganda machine.

The American people have been brainwashed by the media.

I am afraid that the people will need to be affected personally before they snap out of it.

Interesting story...I work with several programmed freepers. For the past several months they spouted the Faux news talking points day after day. They talked about the war, the swift boat liars and Cheney's daughter... Without any cognitive thought, they simply repeated the talking points.

Only two in my group actually served in the military. Coincidentally, we were the only voices of dissension in the group.

Well, about a week after the election one of the freepers had a close friend get the call to go to join the fight for freedom in Iraq.

She wondered why the National Guard would be sending soldiers to Iraq. Now she wonders???? She said that the friend now sports a sign on his truck that says "one weekend a month my a**"

7. They'll call it another name
like 'mandatory patriotic service' and only take poor people, so that it is only a 'limited draft' if anyone questions. And the media, which is bought and paid for by the right, will sell it as hard as they can.

Too many people don't see beyond their own interests, and some don't even see that. As long as we have single issue voters, we'll have politicians who can do anything as long as they don't appear to support abortion or gay rights.

10. Sad but true. This war is going to have to get to Viet Nam proportions
b4 the 51 percenters begin to wonder about their CEO pres.

By then it may be too late and the world will see a lot more needless death before they see peace.
