This country's imperial expedition into Iraq will meet with failure not
because it lacks reseources but because, like the fads in women's fashions, we will tire of this in the next few months or years, and we will need newer forms of excitement to keep us energized. The patient, sustained work it takes to build up a society shattered by war with the help of the people involved seems to be beyond our ability. The failure of our corporations to compete in the global marketplace, our failure to recognize that the Vietnamese people had been waging wars of liberation for countless years against China, France and others are all prime examples of our blindness and impatience.

1. Hey, I'm already tired of Iraq
Of course, I had nothing at all with going there so maybe I don't count. Are you suggesting Supreme Leader has ADD or somethinglike that? Could be, though I think it's more likely "wet brain" in action.

However, in the slight chance you might be blaming "we, the people" for what Bush has done, please direct your idea towards the people in the red states and leave us alone here in the world of reality.

2. When I say "We" I mean our rulers of the moment.Unfortunately, once
a course of action, like the War on Iraq is set by one administration it seems to be pursued by the following one even when it is recognized as a mistake. This sompounds the problem and when the inevitable disaster comes,as it did in Vietnam, there is a sense of let down that takes decades to cure.

3. I think even Bush is tired of it.
I watched him as he droned on and on about the "success in Iraq" and how "we're bringing freedom to the Middle East", on and on, his little lips flapped. He didn't even have to think about what he was saying because he's repeated it so many times.

A reporter: "Sir, do you have a timeline for when we can start to see some improvement in Iraq?"

Bush: "We see progress now. Iraq is securely on the road to freedom". The enemies of freedom are trying to short-circuit our road map to Peace.,bla bla drone"

THEY'RE tired of it. They wish they could get out of the mess. Cheney and his boys have made billions. So did everyone else on the deal, including the JackPot winner J. Paul Bremer.

They certainly don't relish the idea of cleaning up. We're not known for that.

4. It's already a total and complete success
- Destabilizes the region, which was Wolfowitz' plan in the first place
- Keeps everybody in line over here (obviously)
- Obtains cheap oil
- Generates profits for our big firms
- Pisses off Europe (because it cuts one of its main sources of development)
- Fulfills the idiot's oedipal fantasies
- Promotes religious faith here, and actually everywhere, by generating crusade-type atmosphere
- Gives most, including here, the illusion that something is actually happening in this world
- Generates hidden government help to several industrial sectors
- Add your own 'cause the list is very long...

5. That's quite a long list.
And it looks like everything was covered.
