59,054,087 'Stupid' - 6,260 Sorry
<snip>

But in general the tone of the Internet messages is sympathetic. ”It's absolutely intriguing, and quite an important example I think, where people are speaking to the rest of the world really and bearing testimony to the fact that what the U.S. government does is not supported by all of the people here,” according to Jim Paul, executive director of the New York-based Global Policy Forum.

He likened the websites to past examples of international solidarity, like the abolish-slavery movement of the 19th century, and also compared them to the global anti-war marches prior to the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. ”It was astounding and apart from the odd mention, the press really didn't want to acknowledge how big it really was. We put on our website ... photographs of those marches and we've also covered all the big international protests that relate to economic issues,” added Paul in an interview. ”These all brought people from many many countries together in actions of solidarity.”

<snip>

Zetlen says one of his goals in creating SorryEverybody was to launch a ”civil conversation” among Americans and between his fellow citizens and other people worldwide. The appearance of You'reWelcomeEverybody and other initiatives proves he has not yet fully succeeded.

In fact, the U.S. election results demonstrate the growing divide between the world's superpower and the rest of us, says one observer. ”But while America marches rightward, it fails to drag the rest of the world along with it. Indeed, most of the rest of the world is headed in the opposite direction,” Walden Bello wrote Nov. 8 on the website Focus on the Global South.

6. Well said....No way on the planet earth did bush** win legitimately
Visible in the public record of Sequoia Pacific, a company counting one in three American votes, is clear and convincing evidence that the company has been run, perhaps for decades, as a Continuing Criminal Enterprise specializing in blatant and widespread bribery of public officials, with numerous felony convictions, Mob ties, and a history replete with stories of threats, coercion, and even murder.

Sequoia Pacific has a more colorfully-criminal corporate history, we learned, than that of any organization this side of the Gambino Family. In fact, the Gambino Family and Sequoia Pacific have had more than a nodding acquaintance, according to newspapers in New York reporting on the intrigue surrounding the awarding of a multi-million dollar contract for election machines in New York City during the mid-90’s, where Sequoia’s representative in the bidding gained notoriety for attempting to grease the skids al little at a marathon luncheon hosted by Salvatore Reale, a Gambino underboss who later pled guilty to racketeering.

Yet Sequoia Pacific is not unique... Instead, it is emblematic of the systemic wrongdoing of all three major election services companies.

" ”But while America marches rightward, it fails to drag the rest of the world along with it. Indeed, most of the rest of the world is headed in the opposite direction,”"

You know, it's been a while since I've been in the rest of the world, but if this is true, it 0wns. It would be the height of irony if Bush et al. actually suceed in sickening the world into becoming a more democratic place...

17. I'm not sure I would agree
There seems to be a decidedly right-wing tilt, to one extent or another, in many countries, or at least among their leaders-- Koizumi, Howard, Blair, Chirac, Putin, Berlusconi, Musharraf, most of the former Soviet republics, the Dutch government, the Philippine government. Even the Chinese government is abandoning the left in favor of their own brand of fascism.

18. Humor can go a long way
...in getting the message out.

Despite the consumerism of this country where so many people have digital cameras, I bet a tabling campaign that allowed people to add their pictures to sorryeverybody would be a hit. Most have to just be put on the spot by making it effortless.

What I mean is you get an ubergeek with a nice digital camera that can store mounds of pictures, and a few other distingushed-but-trendy-looking people, a folding table with a permit to park it someplace (easy for student organizations since they do this all the time), some magic markers and blank paper, and proceed to take people's pictures and upload them to sorryeverybody for them.

Almost everyone likes the ceremony surrounding getting their picture taken, and that live activity will draw more attention to your table than you could ever get just sitting there with signs and banners. People in front of your table having fun... there could NOT be better publicity.

While doing so, hand out literature about Ohio vote suppression (our most poignant issue with direct video evidence) and MSM media ignorance of the issue, etc. Hopefully our "webmaster" crew have come up with a few zinger leaflets.

Finally be prepared with a quick and witty retort for the inevitable crank mailing the local paper calling you hippies.
