This obsession the Republicans have with abortion
could it be due to them needing warm bodies to fight their illegal wars?

Didn't Hitler award/heap praise on German women who birthed children for his war machine?

And the more children the woman bore, the bigger the medal?

1. They gave a cash award,
and also help in housing, I think. I do know they felt that the housewife should be concerned only with Kinder, Kueche, Kirche (Children, Kitchen, Church).

2. republicans don't give a shit about abortion
for the last 20 years they have used it to keep the
right wing evangelicals all stirred up, fully
knowing that actually overturning Roe would
never happen and would be a disaster for their
party in any case. Yet they continue to expertly
play that card.
They are afraid now that they will be called
upon to put up or shut up, and they
no longer have anyone to blame for their
inaction on the issue. stay tuned

4. Must ...
protect ... the Fetus Delivery System!

Oddly, one's birthday is on the day one is BORN. In the Brave New World, perhaps they will change it to "Conception Day"?

5. I have always contended that the rupukes only are against abortion
because it will get the vote of those fanatics and right wing sheep.
I never really thought they would do anything to stop it, it was just talk to keep those fundies hooked on their propaganda.

But you have a point, they need to keep producing bodies for those body bags they make.
Just like sheep, breed them and heard them off to slaughter.

6. the thought came at me last night, out of the blue
I was watching "The Odessa File".

And I was struck by the similarity.

I just hope no one shows up attacking me for posting this thread because I'm starved for attention (again).

8. The Corporations need lots of warm bodies so they can encourage
more competition for lower wages among desperate workers. Cannon fodder is one thing, but cheap labor + captive consumer markets, now that's a reason to fret about the birth rate.

Also consider that a certain % of the anti-choice radicals in the US are also racists in fear of losing the numbers game to brown people. I do believe that one of the underpinnings of the anti-choice vehemence is that white supremacist are afraid of being out-bred by other races. They fear becoming a minority because they know too well what can be done to minorities. Fundie xians* who are also racists might be more afraid of karma smacking them around than about God's judgment.

7. It's not abortion that bothers them, really. It's uppity women.
And liberal, enlightened men. Having sex with no consequences (they think) and being able to live their lives without the constant fear of unplanned pregnancy. I've yet to argue with a forced birther where they didn't make some comment about the sluttish behavior of the women involved. What does that have to do with the 'sanctity of life'? Many of them are against birth control as well. All sex should be for procreation only, just ask Rick Santorum. They want everyone married and busily cranking out little future consumers and cannon fodder, far too busy to think about things like foreign policy, the environment, and the activities of corporate fascists.

10. My experience is similar
I remember once having a conversation with a coworker. I talked about contraception, its expense, its availability (and for some, lack thereof), its being less than 100% effective. She finally snapped, "I just don't approve of all this fooling around!"

I blinked. "I'm sorry," I finally said. "I thought you wanted to have a serious conversation on the topic."

I walked away.

9. you mean that?
http://www.dhm.de/lemo/html/nazi/innenpolitik/mutterkreuz/

mothercross "Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter" (Mutterkreuz)

1939 more than 3 million women in germany had 4 or more children

awarded in bronze for 4, in silver for 6 and in gold for 8 children (don't quote me on that though)

aren't you looking forward to breed? having good excuses for the scale? (/sarcasm off)

12. I think it's religious. "Be fruitful and multiply."
Now, why is RELIGION so anti-abortion? I give that 2 reasons: Prudism, and expanding the churches flock. The latter isn't JUST for fighting wars, but also puts more money into the churches pockets, and give it more hands for building cathedrals, more votes in elections, etc...
