EU still keen on fusion compromise

The European Union is still keen to broker a compromise with Japan over where to build the world's largest nuclear fusion experiment but stands ready to go ahead without Tokyo if talks fail, ministers agreed yesterday in Brussels.

France and Japan have both offered sites for the $10bn (€7.5bn, £5.3bn) Iter project, dividing the group of countries that have promised finance.

Iter, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, would be the first large-scale demonstration on earth of nuclear fusion, the reaction that powers the sun. Tobias Buck, Brussels

That's the whole article. Also 1.5 hours too late for LBN.

Also note how the US isn't involved. Can any of us not figure out why? President :dunce: might.

3. And take lessons in learning how to LEAD, we are part of a world community
and not a rogue nation. * wants to have things both ways: Economically dependent on the world WHILE defending this shell of a country from evil. Most of which was created out of his direct orders or repuke actions such as exploitation or meddling.

And the world isn't playing along.

2. There is probably something...
...about fusion in the Old Testament that god fearing christians find immoral.
You know how bush* supporters feel about magic and science.

6. Also note how the US isn't involved.
Could it be because the rest of the world knows we can't afford it without increasing our massive deficit even more which in turn threatens the economy of the entire world?
They're being nice for their own preservation by not asking a guy whose broke for a contribution.

7. I wrote a paper about fusion in 7th grade
Everyone was saying it was "just around the corner". That was 24 years ago. Fusion is extremely hard to do in a way to produce power.

BTW, there are tens of thousand of fusion devices that work just fine. Unfortunately, they are Hydrogen Bombs and we don't want those being used.

8. I thought those were fission
reactions....my son did a science fair and he chose nuclear fusion as his report. I recall learning allot since he is the perpetual questioner and I am supposed to have the answers...so we did quite a bit of reading on the net, etc.

BTW - my son even dressed up as Einstein, messed up his hair and gave his talk with a german accent! (yep he got extra brownie points for that) That was grade 4.
