Keith Olbermann interview about voter fraud story. . .
From the NY Observer: http://www.nyobserver.com/pages/frontpage4.asp
(scroll past the stuff on Dan Rather--the interview with KO is beyond that). Snips:

Nineteen months into his latest TV incarnation—having gone from disgruntled ESPN guy to disgruntled NBC News guy to disgruntled Fox Sports guy and back to NBC—the 45-year-old Mr. Olbermann is going Watergate on the Ohio recount, making his show a major-media beachhead for dozens of lefty quasi-conspiracy theorists who clearly wanted to one-up the guys who hog-tied Dan Rather over the summer.
These bloggers, said Mr. Olbermann, were his allies: They "can go places I can’t go. They are my minions—like an unpaid research staff."
. . . "Because at the bottom line, something atypical happened here, and that, I believe, is at the heart of news."

"I have no overwhelming loyalty to anything other than: get out a flag and wave it back and forth—the truth," he said. "The election story involves newspapers, radio, television, magazines, investigative reporters of all kinds being so comfortable in the rut they have created for themselves that they cannot recognize a great story when they see it. "I think it’s intellectual laziness and journalistic laziness," . . "There are a lot of people who are working on this, and it’s interesting that the Net has kind of taken over what used to be the built-in function of newspapers and, to some degree, television and radio—the investigatory ‘Huh?’ factor. You know: ‘Is this real? Let me just look into this for a couple of hours.’"

It didn’t bother Mr. Olbermann that most of his cheerleaders were Web-based Democrats. He said he read a number of blogs, including the left-wing Daily Kos and the right-wing National Debate. But his online support has persisted among the true believers, left-wing sites like Common Dreams and Consortium News. Responses from detractors tended to be belligerently uninformative. "I have seen most of the responses from partisan Republicans, and they mostly consist of: ‘Shut up,’ ‘Get a life,’ ‘You’re hurting our troops,’ ‘You should go back to ESPN,’ ‘What does a sportscaster know about it anyway?’, ‘Red states rule,’" he said. "All I know is the Democratic ones seem to be a lot more reasonable and offer a lot more evidence that is against their interest."

3. Why won't the media do something?
When is this going to come out? Olbermann should be pushing it forward as much as we are. When will it come out? I'm soooooo tired of waiting. Are they gonna let the chimp be sworn in first?

14. Media won't act unless they get the story signed sealed done.
Us. Media wants no part of the investigative side of this illegal election because they don't want to be the one to "break" the story.

When evidence makes it's way to a court for seach warants, sworn testomony, witnesses willing to come forward..a case with verifyable evidence then and only then will the US. Media jump on board. which will be international by then.

Because of the scope of this voter-fraud scenario -- Kerry probably needs 17,000 lawyes to approach this properly so it does end up being a "slam-dunk"

Kerry has to build this case to include Rove-Cheney-even Jeb Bush and all those responsible players involved so it's a signed sealed and delivered indictment...Think Watergate and how long it took before Nixon faced impeachment proceedings because all the Presidents men talked..we'll see.

36. I know things like this take time but...
I was very young then. Didn't it take about 2 years to get all this stuff together? Are you thinking impeachment? I suspect the election fraud will be the least of our problems 2 years from now.

10. [b]Yea, Olbermann![b]
The only man out there who realizes what a force for truth he has working with/for him for America! And I resent all this talk about "pajama-wearing, barefoot bloggers"----I'm wearing clothes! (The cat is playing with my shoes.)

2. Keith Olbermann ... a modern-day Diogenes.
The radical fringe of the Republican base is just upset because our guy looks like a matinee idol and their guy looks like Piggly Wiggly. There's nothing about him that they can make fun of without coming across as mean and little-minded.

Not only that, Keith has a mind and he knows how to use it. He's not just a blowhard mouthpiece.

"...the Democratic ones seem to be a lot more reasonable and offer a lot more evidence that is against their interest."

That's just another way of saying we're fair and balanced. :)

A man of integrity and cojones. Excuse me, I need to go write him yet another email offering to bear his children. (Kidding! kidding! he probably gets too damn many of those anyway.)

18. This was my swoooooon moment:
"I think it’s intellectual laziness and journalistic laziness," he explained, carving his way through a tuna steak.

Oh, and this: "and a shadow of salt-and-pepper stubble across his face."

:)

8. Go Keith go! Wish a network cable whore would hire Phil Donahue.
"Mr. Olbermann’s pull as a broadcaster appears to have peaked at just short of 600,000 viewers a night, on average—a quarter that of Fox News star Bill O’Reilly, his declared nemesis, to whom he now refers as "my loofah-wielding friend." On Friday, Nov. 19, Mr. Olbermann sat at a corner booth at Osteria del Circo on West 55th Street, his lovely publicist by his side, enjoying the waning hours of his week-long vacation—one in which he’d blogged 6,000 words on the vote-counting story on his own Web log, Bloggermann."

32. This is good news to hear. As I don't watch FAUX, I'm sure
Phil Donahue could easily out debate any right wing TV or radio talking head.

Thanks for the good news.

34. donahue is a great debater
he's held his own with o'reilly a number of times as well

the reason is that he's a liberal first and democrat second and can go after the reids and daschles as hard as the gingriches and bushes

it's impossible to articulate a case for the dlc agenda. any populist overture you make gets shot down when they point at a terry mcaulliffe or a hillary clinton's corporate ties

Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 11:49 PM by chiffon
IMO-- Olbermann is a media-savvy journalist broadcaster. He, and only he, has been able to methodically introduce this topic (major issue--to some) to the MSM (Mass Stymied Masses) in a (and I don't want to seem trite) non-threatening, yet informative 'what happened or what could possibly be going on?' manner.

Unfortunately, the framing of issues is the ART of the issue. (sad to say)

As far as I know, he's been the ONLY show out there that even broaches this election information and monitors current developments, thereby, providing updates that have been somewhat credentialed.

Good for Keith Olbermann.

MSNBC is looking to have him, and better yet, so are we.

16. So why only KO? CHECK OUT THIS MEDIA ARTICLE!
I posted this in a couple of other places but its a great explaination on why MSM isn't covering voting fraud (I am sure this is not the only reason but it stands out in my mind).

Media Blackout on Election Fraud by Media News Group

Denver Post and 94+ Newspapers, Radio Stations, TV Stations

Corporate Profits vs Civil Rights, and the Vote

by Kali Autumn Lynn

The Denver Voice

Denver, Co: November 26, 2004

To those of us on the inside of this issue, it seems inconceivable that our local newspapers would offer a front page story on election fraud in Ukraine while ignoring stories of the same right here at home in the United States. Every day, since November 2nd, 2004, stories have emerged detailing such things as malfunctioning voting machines, fraudulent election records in Volusia, Florida, inconsistent numbers of voter registrations vs. vote totals in Ohio, credible university studies showing serious statistical impossibilities in election results, and much more. Yet, these daily revelations have been almost completely ignored by our media. These reports are coming not from persons with tin foil hats as is often claimed, but from PhD level citizens, election officials, and voting rights activists.

(snip)

This past Wednesday, November 24th in Denver Colorado, a small group went to the Denver Post headquarters to protest a media blackout on coverage of the issue of election fraud. They tried to see someone, anyone at the Denver Post but where turned away at security checkpoints consistently. Eventually the settled for a phone number a vowed to return every Wednesday at noon in greater numbers. According to one member, they have not ruled out spreading the protest to other cities.

snip

So question number one comes to mind; if the Denver Post is just a local paper, why where they so insistent that the public not be able to see them.

snip

According to the Denver Post Web Site they are just a local newspaper. Searching further reveals that they are in fact owned by William Dean Singleton and Media News Group, Inc. (the list of properties they hold is woefully out of date on their web site). Media News Group is located in the Denver Post Building and is owner of at least 94 seperate media properties including newspapers, radio stations, and television stations in 12 states. See Media Holdings for a partial list

snip

So what do we have so far? A strong desire to merge and acquire, secrecy, and thank you to the son of the Secretary of State of the Bush Administration. Oh and a need for the current administration, who is very friendly to media mergers, to stay put in order to push through the FCC's agenda. Then along came Kerry... Kerry was short sighted in this case. What one thing could he possibly do to make all of our major media him? Even if he was right?

The Democrats Don't Love US

John Kerry, ""I'm against the ongoing push for reducing restrictions on media concentration," Kerry said on August 6, 2004, echoing the question by Forbes senior editor Brett Pulley. "It's contrary to the greater goals of democracy for the country." see: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/media/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000600685. Kerry said this right before all of the major media outlets decided who to support for President.

This in effect said to every major media outlet in the world, "I will limit your profit potential!"

Some interesting points made in a well researched article.

29. Denver Post told me they were going to print my LTTE re: exit polls.
Honest. I wrote them late, late on Thursday, they left a message on Friday giving me the heads up that they wanted to publish it. Didn't say when, not in today's paper. Maybe on Monday? I'll post it when they do publish it.

Peace out. :hippie:
