US Dead Now Over 10,000
I really didn't know where to post this. We should have a propaganda board. I think Iran is full of it, at least I hope they are. If this is true we ARE going to have a draft. Please don't shoot this messanger for posting this and if it's a dupe let me know so I can delete it.

Iran Commander Says
US Dead Now Over 10,000
IRGC Commander - US, Israel Not In Position To Attack Iran
11-25-4

TEHRAN (IRNA) - Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Rahim Safavi said on Wednesday that the US and Israel are not in a position to launch a military attack on Iran.

He told a press conference on the sidelines of a large military exercise of one hundred thousand Basij (volunteer forces) that it would be foolish if the US opted for military confrontation with Iran.

"The US has been trapped in Iraq and Washington's Middle East warship ran aground in Iraq and Falluja," he said. Safavi said that the US has embarked on a psychological warfare against Iran and the US threats are not serious for the Basij.

Major General Safavi said that the US CASUALTIES in Iraq exceeded 10,600 DEAD, and according to some figures it stood at 14,000 dead which accounted for 10 percent of the American soldiers.

5. Rense just mirrored it. Didn't make the claim.

Take these figures and our figures and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

11. I know, I know
I was goofing on Rense. I know quite well that he personally originates none of the news items.

On the other hand, so much of what Rense does mirror is so blatantly screwy that one must take it with a grain of salt.

Overall, I read the stuff to get a sense of what people are frightened of, as well as to pick up on the occasional early reporing of what will be next week's headlines. I've found that by listening to the paranoids, my own ability to understand the "mainstream" news has improved. Our own press prefers to ignore fear, though fear drives the behavior of many people.

7. My question is. Are we being lied to about our casualities?
I think Iran is full of it, but is our government full of it? We have been lied to by this administration for so long it's become common place.

6. Ok ok time to clarify
there is gonna be war with Iran... and yes virginia there is gonna be a draft... and yes we have got stuck in Iraq, so there is a grain of truth in all of this.

That said, he is quoting the low numbers for WIA and KIA... common propaganda technique... our government is simply ignoring our WIA...

another common propaganda technique.

9. That makes sense.
Because those wounded in action won't be fighting anymore they are included as casualities. Still that's ten percent of our force over there.

10. Saddam seems kind of tame.
I wonder if he had just tried to scare us a little. Might have worked.

8. You do realize this is complete garbage . . . ?
Right? I assume you read the part about this guy speaking for the Iranian government (or at least it's army).
In respect to his estimation of US dead, I would have to say that he's exaggerating just a bit (a bit really meaning quite a bit).

12. Someone is confusing "casualties" with "fatalities". There's a difference
Casualties are both dead and wounded. Technically casualties also includes those having been captured, lost, or deserted, too. It's a measurement of the loss of soldiers' combat fitness. There have been about 14,000 casualties, but not all of them are dead. Fatalities are those who've actually died, which currently stands at 1200 or so.

13. Yes, less than 10% fatalities from the casualty list
The numbers of how many people have lost limbs or the ability to work for the army though... those numbers are really high.
