"Rev" Falwell on the conservative gay Republican creator
of Desparate Housewives....when Tim Russert on today's Meet the Press pointed out that the creator of Desparate Housewives was a conservative gay Republican, that epitome of tolerance, "Rev" Falwell said he should be in the Democratic party!

That comment went unchallenged by the Republican Russert! As a "journalist" he should have challenged that statement as not inclusive and prejudicial. He should have asked if the Republican party welcomes only straight Christians.

3. Like Zell Miller?
That's a surprise, considering that Foul-Well has adored every GOP offering for Prez since Ronaldus Rex...

2. He should? Then he would not be Tim Russert...
He would be a "Journalist" then, not the on of the Propaganda Ministry's favourite lap dogs.

5. Wow, what a disgusting segment
Falwell and Land were incredibly rude, speaking over Sharpton and the other gent, throughout the interview. My real problem isn't Russert's not challenging Falwell over the Desparate Housewives creator, it's the lack of revealing questions asked about abortion. Yes, he asked about criminalization, but he didn't go nearly deep enough.

9. Every time I've seen Jerry Falwell appear with Al Sharpton. . .
. . . or Chuck Rangle or other democrats he does the same thing. Falwell is a racist bigot who hides behind his Christian fundementalist mask. Jerry Falwell would like to see all jews convert to Christianity and has said so many times, once even on Larry King Live. As for Tim Russert, I don't consider him to be a journalist at all which is why I never watch his show.

8. Republicans didn't strike me as very tolerant at all...

Chard (?) Land, a Southern Baptist suggested that in his faith married women should do whatever their husbands dictate for them in terms of working outside the home...suggested it would be proper to prosecute doctors for performing abortions after Roe is overturned...questioned whether Jesus would really oppose the Iraq war...

Rev. Falwell kept interrupting Rev. Sharpton. Rather rudely, actually.

Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Wallis were very effective I thought in voicing progressive concerns (despite the interruptions). They both stressed that moral values embrace larger issues that relate to family rights and the importance of being able to make choices in daily life. They spoke to concerns that unify across the political spectrum.

Rev. Sharpton caught Chard Land committing historical revision and corrected him. It was a great discussion!

10. Meet the Press
Yeah-It was a great discussion and Jim Wallis and Al Sharpton were great, but does it strike anyone as odd that these guys were discussing abortion and there was not a single women on the panel. I guess Timmy just doesn't believe that women, pro-choice or anit-choice are moral.

11. Sadly, it does not surprise me now at all
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 11:19 AM by Meritaten1
The regressive media is so biased against the left that I was just delighted Meet the Press actually included two progressive speakers on the panel. It goes without saying that Mr. Russert did not step in and try and ask Jerry Falwell not to interrupt speakers whose views differed from his (Falwell's) own.

Very rarely it seems to me does the MSM aspire towards objectivity and balance anymore.
