Ironic? Fighting the re-draft of Servicemen who suffered through Vietnam
Hell No, We Won't Go!" Ready Reservists Fight Call-Up Orders

Former G.I.'s, Ordered to War, Fight Not to Go
By MONICA DAVEY

he Army has encountered resistance from more than 2,000 former soldiers it has ordered back to military work, complicating its efforts to fill gaps in the regular troops.

Many of these former soldiers - some of whom say they have not trained, held a gun, worn a uniform or even gone for a jog in years - object to being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan now, after they thought they were through with life on active duty.

They are seeking exemptions, filing court cases or simply failing to report for duty, moves that will be watched closely by approximately 110,000 other members of the Individual Ready Reserve, a corps of soldiers who are no longer on active duty but still are eligible for call-up.

In the last few months, the Army has sent notices to more than 4,000 former soldiers informing them that they must return to active duty, but more than 1,800 of them have already requested exemptions or delays, many of which are still being considered.

And, of about 2,500 who were due to arrive on military bases for refresher training by Nov. 7, 733 had not shown up.

Army officials say the call-up is proceeding at rates they anticipated, and they are trying to fill needed jobs with former soldiers as they did in the Persian Gulf war of 1991.

1. They're trying really hard to hide their desperation for boots
The draft must be around the bend.

What kind of 'Patriotic' name are they going to give the draft this time?

The 'Freedom March Mandate'?
The 'Liberation Lottery'?

Let's play a game - I'll bet some DU'er will nail it.

4. When there is a draft - we should make sure that we all have a copy of the
Bush** saying there won't be a draft.

I'm sure there's a way to sue for misrepresentation.

When they come for my kids, "They're not going until That Monkey President shows up at my door, personally apologizes for lying about there not being a draft, then steps down as commander-in-cheif to be replaced by someone who's actually fought in a war. Then they'll have my support. But the kid's still not going."

12. They'll find a way to blame it on the Clinton administration.
Between Rove and Limbaugh they'll come up with something.

7. Don't you see? By cannibalizing ex- mil. only, the BA STILL protects...
their elite buddies who wiggled out of serving in the first place, let alone their own children...? GW KR and DC et. al., plus their cronies, will not be called up. But 54 year old Grandfathers who've done their duty are re-drafted. This is reaching critical mass. The tipping point is coming. WE MUST PROTEST THIS.

6. what is the percentage of white 18-25 year olds who voted for
Bush???

Anyone know?? There's a demographic they could mine and have soldiers galore.

21 million young people voted this year, if only 1/4 of them were W. fans, that makes 5 million soldiers.

9. oh yes... only draft those that voted for Bush...
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 01:23 PM by shuffnew
that would help keep Bush in his protective bubble (glass house that does not include anyone that objects to his agenda)! hmmm makes good sense to me... go for the 5M+ that may have voted for him and keep B's protective bubble alive and well... if he drafts the opposite way, he stands to break his glass house! If he drafts only the Repukes, he gets to keep his glass house in tact and Goss doesn't have to clear up the undesirable drafts! YES! Perfect Repuke strategy. Shall we pass this suggested strategy on to Dr./Brother Rove?

10. "The naming game"
The Bushitas won't need to give it a cutesy name...they will issue a warning that we are going to be attacked (probably use nuclear stuff....as in "Bin Laden plans to nuke us"), scaring the bejesus out of the Walmart Sheep---

There will be LOTS of flags and stuff on display (bought at Walmart, made in China) and lots of anti-liberal propaganda.

Why name it?

A snazzy title makes people feel like they're that much more special.
It increases moral.

Don't tell me people won't fall for it either - look what they've fallen for so far...

(on Edit) Oh yeah, and it'll all happen AFTER the nuke pops.
