"Nationalism: A state of mind in which one hates another's country
more than one loves one's own." *

Freepers don't love America. They're too busy hating other countries. The vast majority of them want to annihilate all Muslims. That's not hyperbole. All you have to do is pop into freeperville to verify it. They hate the French. They hate the Germans. They hate the Canadians. Ironic that we're the ones accused of being haters. The question is: Do freepers represent more than a tiny minority of Americans? I'm beginning to think they do, that the corrosive hate they've been so good at manufacturing, is spreading, and poisoning this country.

*The quote is from Fredrick Reck-Malleczwen's Diary Of A Man In Despair, a journal of a German resistor and intellectual, from the early thirties until his execution in 1944.

1. I have more hope
freepers tend to yell and make a lot of noise. That doesn't mean everyone agrees with them by a longshot. I do think there is a lot mistrust of Muslims, mostly out of ignorance fueled by biased reporting on the news. Frankly, I think there's a lot of people out there who don't like to be around the fundevangelist types too much, because they don't like their wild-eyed fanaticism. From my very small survey of people, who are mainly the folks I work with and come into contact with in the course of a business day, I'd say they are as distrustful of Falwell types as they are of any generic Muslim. The main criticism they have is that they feel an invasion of their privacy by these groups-"Ain't nobody's business where-or if-I go to church" to quote one co-worker.

Could be that the more intrusive these fanatics get, the more resentment by the silent majority. Could eventually result in an ugly backlash if they go too far.
